Flat front tire motorcycle at home

Ya you probably should have mentioned that you crashed and hit a curb in your original post.

There could be rim damage. Get it looked at professionally.

The tire is not your issue. You have a dented rim. I'll bet you any money that's the problem here. Have it towed to a shop and inspected.

Ugh what's with people not providing enough information? OP if you crashed the bike; SAY SO. Half the thread was about getting a patch kit for a puncture which apparently you knew was not needed.

Same goes for another thread where a guy says something like "my bike won't start" and provides no additional info.

ugh. sorry

/rant

I don't believe its a puncture. When I fell off my bike I hit a curb sideways, which probably forced the tire inwards. Another factor could be the pressure of the tire at the time of incident. But as you guys mention, best to get it checked.

I live like 10 minutes from Yorkdale Mall.

Why didn't you disclose this information earlier? When I look at the picture you posted (closer this time) I see the scuff marks on the rim and it peeled away from the tire. The rim looks to be bent. Seek professional help,

Dude that was a pretty important piece of info u left out there. I know u probly feel like a knob for rackin ur bike like that, but seriously one of these guys could've given u advice and u would follow it and because of the left out piece about your bead being off the rim u coulda went for a boot and killed yourself man! Seriously own up to mistakes so peeps can help u proper.

OP doesn't has a puncture. Apparently he forgot to mention that.

Sorry, Saw something about a 5" nail in the third or fourth post. My Bad for not reading them all.

Not ur bad dude, who knew OP had a completely different issue to the one he's askin everybody about. S**t happens OP don't ever be afraid to admit fault or guilt, everybody hurts....sometimes

Well just figured my tire is leaking from the rim!! How can I nail cause that? I think the nail bent and made two holes lol!! Don't think I can ride it to the shop and never removed a tire before!!

Tire change aren't too bad if u have proper tools and technique. I just did my first a month ago. A couple of YouTube vids watched and off I went. U can get the 10 inch C clamp and valve core remover /w new cores from princess auto, RD has all the other kit u need...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHYnA2yZLVc&feature=youtube_gdata_playerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7ry6RqM2l8&feature=youtube_gdata_player also note u don't really need the zip ties to remove the old tire like in the first vid, I didn't use em and IMO it looks harder to do with ties.

i get flats all the time, dont use slim it will unbalence youre tire and makes it hard to plug in the event of another nail/screw.tire plugs are good if you do it properly.the kits from crapy tire have instructions,i have a detailed post on tire plugs but no pictures, i dont know how to load pics on this site so read and save youre self some money. to godsd3vil i am unable to reply to youre post/message on tire plugs.

Also are you legal for the road?

Sounds like you might need to take some lessons. It will be well worth the $500 or so. Plus you'll get a bit of an insurance break on rates.

A Ratchet strap run around the circumference of the tire, tightened up can help to push the sides of the tire out enough to grab while filling it with air. Might even be able to do this without removing the rim from the bike.

Any suggestions on re-seating the bead of the tire? I believe this is causing the flat. I tried pumping it with air and its leaking from the opening.

Good advice..I have used this method at times too..usually if the tire is older and has become stiff. He should also be soaping the side with a paint brush on the rim and the tire where the bead is. Make sure u go right out to the sharp inner edge of the bead. I even go around it a little so that soap has a chance to lube even with drip and/or dry loss. If you don't have a tie strap, use a pc of rope with a twisted T type stick to turn which will tighten rope. Sometimes tho I have also had luck bouncing the tire on concrete 1/16 of a turn at a time as you are filling with air. Once tire is reseated, you do not have to worry about air escaping while screwing the valve back into the stem. Unless, a tire has sat around flat unseated for years, in those cases it often will unseat, and even leak at the rim once aired. Again, usually only on old stiff sidewalled tires.

You say you bent the rim. I'm not seeing it in the pic. Usually though it takes a fairly sharp or severe dent to create a sealing issue on newer tires. If old and stiff then they are more prone, especially if it was underinflated to begin with. I suspect the tire was underinflated in the first place in order for this to have happened...especially if you're not limping or bleeding from the crash.

The final point I want to make, is since the bike sounds like it is new to you, but an older year? make certain that the tire diameter is in fact the correct diameter for the rim. It could be one size too large...I'm seen it happen. And of course would make the tire leak, and unseat from the bead upon like curb hitting etc.

edit - trying make an edit, site freezes and locks up, had to log in and out 3 times, clearing cookies..is any one else having this trouble or is my PC you think? Often have to hit advanced in order to get an area to type in rather than is filled with the original page of the thread.

Do you carry this kit everywhere you go with your bike? If so, what kind of air pump do you carry around?

Yes, I carry the small Co2 cartridges with an adapter hose to re-inflate the tire then get proper inflation when I reach someplace that has an air service.
