Had anybody got any experience dealing or flying with this company.

Finding flights at a decent cost means booking 2 to 3 months in advance

never heard of them, however a quick interweb search shows they are based in Edmonton, founded in 2005 and just added trips to Mexico from BC, AB and ON...here is what came up as reviews (2 star on 2,000 + reviews)...

Wondering if they're a spin-off of Flair Forwarding, a big freight-forwarding outfit that used to be out of Toronto Pearson Airport. Probably started their own airline.

Ultra low cost airline I think. Limited aircraft, pay extra for everything. The low ratings are from cancelled flights I believe.

Gal friend just flew to Kamloops via Calgary out of Hamilton. Dirt cheap , carry on bag only . It’s a low budget carrier, like swoop , flights get canceled . At the prices they are offering I can’t see them being around forever

They operate out of KW as well.

I used to fly a lot between Paris and Nice in the south of France. The airline I flew on wasn’t a big one and the flight attendants did a costume change part way through the flight so that it seemed like there were more of them.

Yep. This is the big risk. Have read lots of horror stories of people planning vacations only to have an outbound flight cancelled and rebooked for a week later, the day they were booked to come home.

I flew with the near-identical Swoop a couple times to Abbotsford out of Hamilton, not because they were cheap but because both airports are super quick and were much closer to home and my destination. Both flights were fine, not dissimilar to a typical WestJet flight.

Just be sure to have a backup plan if your flight is cancelled, as they won't have another flight an hour later like Air Canada, so it could be a very long time before they have a seat...

I’m looking at flights to Alberta, west jet and air Canada are brutal on prices

I’ve been booking 3 months in advance, Still the cost on certain dates are through the roof

I wouldn’t fly an ultra cheap airline if you’re on a time sensitive situation.

If you’re just flying somewhere with a flexible timeline and a cancelled flight that puts you back a few hours isn’t going to be the end of the world, then there can be savings.

Booked on expedia, YYZ into Ft Mac for $468 + taxes on west jet. I'd rather do AC but they dont have the times I want. That's for mid Dec.

My flight for fort Mac in December was through hopper and flying west jet is 800 and change

I've had good luck with Google Flights, as it's easy to find the cheapest connections within a range of dates, as well as choosing a variety of airports (Hamilton and Pearson, for example). Skyscanner was useful once upon a time when I flew a lot for work, but haven't used them in ages...

Google flights doesn’t pick up every airline but it’s pretty good.

I wouldn’t use an ultra low cost carrier for any connection flights but as a direct flight with some flexibility if you’re not time pressed they could be good. The issue for me is that if you add checked luggage or even a cabin bag for some, the prices rise dramatically so that they are the same as other major carriers.

Westjet were running some promo flights a few years back when I was looking for flights to the UK. The price looked great but after I added a bag and chose my seat etc then it turned out to be more costly with less flexibility than a number of other flights.

If you fly on one of the flights like Flair has maybe get one of these and fill the pockets…

It's also the crazy taxes they tack on above the published fare.

My latest flight with Swoop:

$90.00 published fare

$2.95 Air Passenger Protection Regulation Surcharge
$7.00 Nav Canada Surcharge
$7.12 Air Travellers Security Charge (ATSC)
$25.00 Airport Improvement Fee (AIF)
$7.20 GST

$50 in taxes on a $90 flight! DF?!?!

To be fair, all those extra charges are imposed by gov't/regulatory bodies... The airline sees none of if land in their pocket.

The AIF is imposed by the the airport at their whim, too. For a long time, Pearson had the highest in the world, not sure if that's still the case...
