Fixing a bike that has been dropped

I might get a cbr600rr that has been dropped on right side. How hard is it to fix it up? Seller says no mechanical damages and all aesthetic uglyness. Will changing fairings help? Its an 08 with low km. There are scratches on the circular thing on the right side.

If it's only cosmetic, it should just be take old stuff off and put new stuff on. You could just grab a complete kit of aftermarket fairrings. Price ranges from like $500-$1000. Buying the stock pieces....well, dealership prices will rape you hard =(

Care to clarify what this means?

wtf is that a drop or a low side?!

and NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I thought it was just fairrings, engine covers are very expensive!

It happened at some speed... It looks all cosmetic but I would be concerned about the hit to the bars. How does the bike rides? Most likely, he didn't let you ride it... but it would be good to know, given the condition of the bike.

looks like he ground one of the cover bolts right off, it may likely leak.

The rest can be repaired, you just need a good shop for paint. Do not repaint it one color, it will kill resale.

The prices they charge for those fairings is criminal. It's cheap ABS. This has been a business plan of Japanese bikes since the 80s. They could engineer proper sliders.

The rest is not too bad.

i would like to check it out but i dont think he wud let ride it. I wouldnt want either cuz I am a noob and i wouldnt know what the potential problem could be.

Not at all...

As long as there is no leaks, it doesn't even need to be replaced.
OP, it better be a good deal if you're actually considering it.

Ty for the correction. I'm surprised it's cheaper than the fairrings.

hmm good eye...

damn 07-08 cbr600rr knows how to hold the value.

If you can wait it out, I noticed very good deals during the fall to spring. Right now everything seems jacked up. Ninja 250s are going for $4000!

right hand side bar end is gone. Check clip-ons. Definitely not a "drop"

Unless you're getting it for next to nothing, I'd pass! You're looking at close to $1500 just to replace what I see damaged in the photos with oem parts. Plus labour, if you're not doing it yourself.

I'm sure you could find good fairings and engine covers for cheap on a Honda forum. That was not a drop though, that was a low-side and I'd check to see if the steering stop wasn't broken or damaged. Steering bearing could also be a source of problem.

if you have a mechanically inclined person to go check it out - it might be a good buy. As long as the damage is superficial...sometimes the subframe and forks bend on those type of accidents....sometimes they won't.

It will be a risky purchase - but things should be pretty obvious to see.

If you need help - there will be alot of members that will take time out of their day to help check this bike out for you.
