First Ride On The Streets Ever

Done almost 200k in 4 days or so. Only issue im trying to grasp is shifting smoother when accelerating hard. I feel like im hurting the gearbox sometimes with my bad shifts

You're letting off the throttle when you upshift, right?

With practice you'll find that you can shift very quickly and smoothly. New riders tend to take a lot of time to shift, which means the road speed/engine speed is not matched as closely as it could be.
Second thought - never leave paperwork in your bike or car - if someone breaks in to the car or steals the bike they'll know where you live. And if you're at the mall or something they have an opportunity. No, I'm not paranoid.

Sometimes i do hang on the throttle when going hard but i think its my timing. Couple of times i shifted without the clutch upon hard acceleration accidently. It didnt sound or feel pretty. These gearboxes can take some abuse right ?

It's a 250. It'll take some abuse. I wouldn't make a habit of it and maybe work on shifting before 'accelerating hard' but the gear box won't blow up because of 1 missed shift

On a 250 it'll take some abuse. More than most other bikes for sure. Clutchless upshifting is all about timing and knowing the sound/feel of the bike. If you do it wrong the bike will lurch forward HARD but that's about it

I up shift no clutch all the time on my bike when I'm doing a steep hill climb or something where I need the power with no breaks, I never experienced it making funny sounds or anything like that though. Maybe because I ride a dirt bike it's a tad different.
