Fire Department bills me for nothing

I work with 2 guys from the calendar..... I can tell you that 100% of the proceeds are donated directly to Princess Margaret Hospital.... the photography and printing are 100% donated , and the guys donate their time to the cause..... Call it cheesy, whatever, but it's for a good cause , and raises a lot of $$ for cancer research.... should I be apologizing for that too ? it's my suspicion that a lot of the critics , tried to get on the job , but couldn't cut it ...... so they trash us at every opportunity.... just my opinion though...... have a nice day........ officially done with this thread........

If that is a "fact" than you would know Toronto's operating guidelines, if your family is full of FF;s.

We all know each other, or know someone who works for another dept etc.

Never said that i know Toronto Fire guidelines i got my info from a quote from the Chief in the Toronto Star. My family was based out of Whitby and Oshawa, my mother was even a dispatcher in Oshawa back in the 80's.

He "believes " and "wonders" ..... He's never done the job .... Another of the mayor's "minions" .... The "six hours" of rest wasn't represented very well either .... We're "allowed" to lie down after 11pm , but we're still on duty the entire 6 hours .... And we rarely get 6 hours of uninterrupted rest , if ever ..... Compared to our old shift of 10hr days and 14hr nights , I feel much better after One 24hr shift than I ever did at the end of 4 14 hour night shifts ......fairly safe to say that the writer of the article, the budget chief and the Chief (who I know personally) have NEVER worked the current TFS schedule....There are plenty of surveys that show the 24 shift to be healthier than the old shift too, so don't be so quick to judge.....When first proposed to our association, it received less than 80 percent of the member's support....... A year later it was over 95 percent....Believe what you will .... I don't give a rat's @ss ..... Maybe you could share with us where it it is that you work, so that I could suggest to your boss how to improve your productivity …. Cheers, Les

I just don't think that taxpayers should be on the hook for insurance premiums and such when the truck was not actually on a call, not too meantion implementing another truck into the rotation because of trip to get hotdogs and hamburgers, get your food before you get to work, that is all i'm saying.

How do you have a night shift, Toronto is on 24hr shifts? If you are not a Toronto firefighter then i guess you may not have a nap time, but i am positive they are allowed to sleep in Toronto, but i was wrong on the hours (its 6 hours as per the Fire Chief) but it must occur after 1pm.

We use the 24 hour shifts on my department and we don't have a mandatory 8 hours of sleep. We can go to bed at 11 but we still take calls all night. And there is no food truck added to the rotation, we take our truck to the grocery store and are still fully inservice no one else takes our calls.
