Finger lakes. Waterloo New York.

Thinking seriously about this most likely as mostly solo but might meet up for riding part of the way. What is itinerary at this point.
You go right by me on your way down from KW tho depending on which bridge I might leave early and do Ridge Road etc part of the way.

I tend to like to get away 7 ish or earlier. Still thinking about it. Anyone taking smart phone/email etc.?

I understand I am also an early riser and would like to get away that early too, but the other guys didn't want to leave that early so no biggie.
We are leaving from the shell gas station beside silver city on King st. at 9:30, from there we will most likely slab it to the border. I can send you my cell # if you would like.

id caution you on using Lewiston to cross. google "border wait times" before you hit the border to check how long the crossing will takes and how many lanes are open. I have a nexxus passes so im not affected but nothing sucks more than getting there and having to wait 45 minutes in the heat.
I have heard the same from a lot of people.

same risk applies to Buffalo and the border wait times info is often ********
I sat in traffic for 1/2 hour last week when the site said there was no wait time.

I am unsure of what to do right now. I am leaning towards the Rainbow brigde because at least there is no commercial traffic but we will see. I realize the info you get can be a load of BS but it might be what we go with.
Thanks guys

In my experience with crossing over the last few years, Rainbow has been the fastest, depending WHEN you hit it. If I have to cross via Rainbow, I plan for early AM or end of day if it's a weekend. During the week, Rainbow is pretty fast.

during a holiday weekend, forget it. Hit before 9am or after 9pm

Think this tips me away from a long ride this weekend - I'll stay close to home and do morning and evening rides instead or point the bike north somewhere....

Have fun - stay hydrated

Environment Canada has released a special weather statement warning of “ovenlike conditions” in southern Ontario over the coming days.

Temperatures are expected to reach the high thirties on Thursday, with the humidex hitting the low forties and causing “rather uncomfortable warmth” in some areas.

Toronto’s forecast is comparatively chilly, with a high of 32 C, although it will feel more like 38 C.

The humidity will decrease slightly on Friday, offering some relief, but temperatures will stay in the low-thirties into next week.

Thanks - never know I might. Just out enjoying the night north of KW for a few hours. Nice that some Timmies have wifi.

Have a good trip if we don't connect.

Rainbow Bridge can be pretty quick sometimes, but I wouldn't want to wait too late in the am to make my move, as with the long wknd, everyone else will be trying to make that same move at the same time, which equals a huge bottleneck.

On issue of bridge line reports, I use them frequently and they are mostly fairly close to accurate, key is to make the call as close to when you approach border as possible, not when leaving KW when you're more than an hour away, as lots can change in that timeframe. The updates are made on the half-hour, so that frequent an interval ensures that the accuracy of the reports are fairly good..

Trouble with Rainbow is you have to drive clear across to the other side of town on surface streets dealing with all the many stop lights to hook up to I-190.

This worked great. We took this on the way back and we had a 0 wait time.

We had a great drive there and a great drive back. The group decided to stay on the 20 instead of the 20A and skipped Lechworth state park, kind of sucks but it was HOT down there this weekend, so I didn't mind. I can't speak for the others but I really had a lot of fun. Watkins Glen Park was awesome and a must see.
Will load some pictures this week, will have to get them all together first.
Thanks for all the helpfull tips guys the were appericiated.

I sat in traffic for 1/2 hour last week when the site said there was no wait time.

Did a tour with some friends to the Adirondacks and down to the Catskills on the weekend. Came back through Lewiston around noon, 10 min wait at most. Was great, especially considering the heat. I was expecting at least 30 mins of waddling the bike to keep it from over heating.

Yeah that's the norm for Lewiston - so surprised me on a weekday with 30-40 minutes both directions....glad I was in the van. At least the lead ins are either downhill or flat if you turn the bike off.

I had more issue at the final toll on the I90, backed up a few miles. An air cooled bike does not like standing around in the heat for long periods of time, was just at the line before it would say it was over heating before I finally got through and paid. Once moving it went down pretty quickly.

Yeah one thing I like about the Burgman - water jacketed - low stress motor - the temp gauge never ever moves except to get to running temp.
They even removed it from the 2012 version in favour of an idiot light. No clutch and cool engine makes sitting in line or traffic at least bearable.
The other night on the 401 tho was brutual - a slow crawl not quite enough for easy balance and surrounded by trucks moving at different speeds from zero ot 5-10 kph. That was work and a bit nerve racking at night as it took the 401 out by HWY 6 down from 3 lanes to 1 that included part of the centre shoulder.
Was NOT the fav part of the ride and I was tired after 7 enjoyable hours so concentration was low.
If I could have pulled off for a short break I would have but not even that available unless I dodged inside the cones and they had these huge deep trenches ( think a meter deep ) cut in the road surface - not sure what that was about.

That is a great River Cruise. You will be in ports most of the days , so no matter where your cabin is doesnt matter much. When not in porrt get up on the deck and you can see both sides of the river. Doris
