Finally a Canuck Bike rag that still publishes in print.

I was just going to post something about this, I ordered mine the same day a bunch did (Feb 13) and nothing. I'm glad it isn't just me at least....

At the time it said 4-6 weeks

Should be arriving in the next few days according to their customer service.

No, it's a $15+hst add on price to the membership if you want it (saving of $5 off normal price). I just renewed my OFTR membership today.
Was free in prior years...

I emailed them and received a quick response. They said to expect it later this week or early next.
I am wondering if they are late sending out all copies to all subscribers or only the ones for the recent subscribers.
Thinking of subscribing to enjoy the read and keep them running. I too prefer a paper copy vs a digital one.

I hope I don't have to wait 4-6 weeks for mine.

Thanks, they clearly have not shipped, or within the last couple days seeing as no one has received them. I hope it does start with that 2021 roundup issue as it said.

This is the reply I received (quite quickly too):

Hi Robert,

The Inside Motorcycles April/May issue is being mailed this week. With a little luck you might get it by end of week, but if not then certainly the early part of next week. Not looking to make excuses, but Covid lockdowns seem to be making things difficult at times in terms of magazine production.

Our apologies for the delay. If possible, please drop me a line when it arrives. Hopefully it was worth the wait.

Thanks

David

Well I got my first issue today. It wasn't the one that was originally stated I would get unfortunately. Was kind of looking forward to reading the 2021 roundup.

I actually ordered that one separately just in case my subscription wasn't going to go through in time to catch it.
I thought maybe I would also get a paper copy of it, but it appears to be an online version only, otherwise I would make you a copy or send you mine when I was done with it. Electronic just isn't the same!

Still waiting for my first issue - although I imagine it will be here today or tomorrow.

Hard copy back issues are $10!!
:-(

Not surprising. They're probably losing money at that cost.
Digital prints, 12x18" are about $0.50 per side (if you order in bulk or have a buddy in the business). 2 sides make 4 pages after being folded.
32 page document would be 8 sheets, or $4. Add in trimming and stapling... $6 cost easy. Couple of buck for profit, and $2 for postage = $10.

You forgot about advertising income. Print advertising, even a 1/4 page black and white, is expensive.

Nope. That was purely production costs.
Advertising income would help offset the design/staffing costs, but not much else. Hence the high cost of back orders.

Ordering back issues doesn't affect their advertising revenue. The cost of producing and shipping that single magazine needs to be covered by the charge to the customer (and hopefully some profit if possible).

Me thinks that per side cost is a bit exaggerated to make a point, 50 cents is high

Nope. Check it yourself. I worked in the industry for 27 years. Go to staples - check the cost of a 12x18 sheet (if they even offer those), printed in full colour, both sides. If you're printing less than 500 issues, it will be very high cost per piece - at around 500, the cost of digital vs. press starts to even, and higher numbers favour press.
After the printing, you have to take the labour cost to fold, cut and staple.
