Final Thoughts Of 2011

So its the last day of the year. It's been a pretty crazy year for me. Im sure it was for many. It was probably a first for all of the people who rode up until a couple days ago (who would have said we'd still be riding until Christmas :D) Saw a lot of things, experienced things on 2 wheels that I'll never forget...

How was your 2011?

*and to all a Happy New Year at midnight tonight. :cya:2011, HELLOOOO 2012 :occasion5: Cheers

Kinda lame, honestly... the bike broke in a few different ways (I broke some parts trying to fix it), I had a variety of unexpected budget pains (lots of fixing my 10-yr-old car, travel for a death in the family, ...), and my year at work was super-stressful. At times it just seemed to pour on me.

On the plus side, I made it through OK without debt, and I learned a lot - about bikes, about work/life, about budgeting, and about relationships. The highlight of my year was when my fiancée said 'yes'. :D (A close second: when I finally got the bike running...)

I guess you have to learn from experience and know that things could always be worse. But I am definitely looking forward to 2012 and hoping it brings better.

Oh yeah, go Canada in tonight's WJC game!

The James Bay Road and a new Burgman Exec were highlights. Wild ride with Fearless Bob at the end of the Algonquin colour run was also a hoot.....twisties in the dark.

No US runs this year was a downer but enough to the north and east in Canada to still make it a good riding year.

The Shed having a permanent home also is sweet - gotta have a reason to ride up to Forks :D

Looking forward to the Metzler's and hitting Pennsylvia early on but a 3 week road trip to Yellowstone coming up will eat into riding time.

Making up for it with the KLR650 waiting for me in Cairns.....second season for the first time ever :D

Happy New Year all.

It was a great year all around, ++ on the ST. Did NESTOC, OHSTOC and ONSTOC. OHSTOC being the highlight for roads in NY, PA and especially Ohio (amazing roads near McArthur), West Virginia and Virginia on the way home. Only problem is how do I top this in 2012?

Got my life in order after a couple of challenging years
Got engaged
Bought a dream house

Riding wise
Hooligan ride to Mont Trembland
First track day in Canada
Bought a new bike after mine was totaled (not at fault)

2011 is almost all behind me.2012 will be a better year,it couldn't be worse that's for sure.

Highlight; getting a job position at work I've been trying to get for 6 years.
Close 2nd; buying a KTM SuperDuke!

Hoping for some form of a riding trip next year (I miss going to the Gap) and will likely check out the OshKosh Airshow with some old army friends.

2011 was largely filled with frustration and disappointment. I'm not sorry to see it go. The only decent moments seemed to be while riding. The chimpanzee ergonomics of motorcycles was too limiting, though.

So I sold the Ninja and went shopping. The result wasn't cool, or sexy but it was pretty smart. Machines don't talk, but they do have personality. The Burgman is Good Guy Greg.

Hello, 2012. Here's hoping it's filled with longer rides on better roads.

Got a Motorcycle licence and a motorcycle this year...

wish i got one before the summer, but oh well...

also wish i would have bought a new battery in November, missed a lot of riding days in december due to a dead battery

Did four trips into the states this summer. The Bandit ran perfectly, and most importantly I returned home in one piece.

I'll never forget some thing another member wrote on this forum a couple of years ago, "a good ride is one from which I return home alive." So I'd have to say that any body who can read this post had a good summer.

My condolences to the families of those who never made it back home safely this summer.

Here's to an exciting and safe 2012.

Happy New Year every one!

An awesome year.

Finally learned how to carve while snowboarding after 3 years of breaking. Just went boarding this week and I still got it:D
First real season of riding and it was awesome. Met so many great people and went on a lot of awesome rides.
Two track day lessons and a dirt biking lesson:)
Few camping trips with the bike too.

I can't wait for next year!!!

Happy New Years GTAM :puke:

Strange, nothing really eventful stands out for 2011. The year just seems like a blur now. As far as riding goes, I hope to find my next new-to-me motorcycle and do at least one overnight riding trip.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Pleased to have discovered this site, met some really nice peeps and had some super fun rides. In 2012 a trip to deals gap and east this year would be nice.Great year financially and family is just fine so just hoping for more of the same in 2012.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well as stated can't be any worse then 2011. Great seeing my 10 year make it to one step from Black belt after 5 years of training.
Had a good riding year not as many track days as i would like but going to fix that in 2012. Going to hit deals gap in 2012 for sure and some more long distance riding.

My sorrow to those that left us way to early this 2011.

Happy new Year to all and hope you get what you wish for in 2012.

2011 was the year I got into riding... so it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

Looking forward to 2012, hoping to log lots of KMs on the bike, and maybe get my racing license if all goes well

I officially ended my 2011 riding season at 7:00 pm EST in Knoxville, TN . After riding the tail of the dragon this afternoon and a long ride from Vegas, I stored my bike and will return to it next year. Now driving home to Toronto.
