I wish you a speedy and full recovery Hedo!!! It's not the same here without you! We're like a lost flock of belligerent sheep, and you're a good shepherd who tries to watch over us and point us in the right direction.

What he said^ and get well soon.

thanks everyone no caps can onky move one hand/arm..lol i have been off hydromorphine for two days. had to take one today i have plates in left ankle and left collar bone. can't provide many details. it was a goose that basically took offense to me riding around others, i had slowed to about 30 km/h he/she/it flew from grass on roadside striking my windshield while i was focused on others. no charges, not at fault by insurance. will likely be in rehab hospital until at least mid jun. this is when it really sucks to be self employed, no income, nothing from insurance, lawyers are on that different insurer than last time. also ssucks my mom starts her brain tumor radiation next week and i can't be there for her.

Glad to hear you re relatively ok Hedo. Animals do suck at times...had $1800 damage last December when a raccoon decided it wanted to walk in front of my car on the 401 of all places. As much of a PITA that was, I am forever thankful I was driving the car and not the bike that time. I also have a friend who lost part of a Ducati to a turkey on the 507, and my parents lost a grill and a rad on their old Astrovan years ago when a seagul dive-bombed their van.

Out of interest though, I thought our insurance does include income replacement if in an accident. How come they aren't providing you with something to cover you while you can't work? I'd say also apply for EI, but if you were self-employed and didn't pay in, then that wouldn't be an option for you.

Hope all works out

Yeah I lost a grille on my cage 3 years ago when A goose decided to sleep on the exit ramp of 407 and Yonge street.

No EI for me. Thankfully I already had a PI lawyer from last incident, so I emailed her on the holiday Monday. She is dealing with AB adjuster. I am dealing with the PD< (Property damage, AKA bike, adjuster). Income replacement is VERY different for self employed then it is for an employee. Either case no income replacement is available for first 7 days. Thankfully my apartment, (which I won't be able to return to until likely July due to 18 stairs), was prepaid for June. Shop landlord is working with me but rent will be paid likely tomorrow. Next hurdles are car payments, business items like gas and hydro, (Even if nothing is running), it is about $200 per month in various charges and admin fees for business...lol But I am sure I will make it. Of course bigger issue is I have to refer all clients that were booked and ones calling to someone else as I won't have an "exit strategy" from doctors till late next week earliest and from what they have said initially likely not on my feet realistically until July. Because both breaks are on same side, I can't use a walker or crutches and wheel chair is really tough with one arm and leg on same side...lol

Nurse just told me to get offline she wants to do my blood sugars...lmao.

So sorry about you and that goose. I hope it was not your golden goose.

Consider an electrified wheelchair. You'll only need one working hand. They are expensive and heavy to transport, but would be a good option for you.

Hedo2002 best wishes in your recovery, from experience the worst part about getting steel put in is putting it in and of course the post op swelling and risk of infection. If anything getting used to the steel in my body was the biggest hurdle and now I wear it like a badge of honour. One can sit and feel sorry for yourself or push hard in rehab and suffer for future gains ie mobilty and overall use of the limbs.
I really hope for a speedy recovery and also the best for your mom.

Btw if it makes ya feel any better last week absolutely creemed a stupid goose with my Tacoma coming on road challenging cars LOL saw him too late was a poof of pillows looking in rear view:D

Maybe GTAMers smarter than I can set up some sort of a YouCaring crowdfunding thingy (see, smarter than I...) to which we could each contribute to help hedo through this (hopefully) short phase of difficulty.

Anyone?
