Fall down go boom

That could be a factor. We had a lot of bikes go down on saturday (about 10),and there didn't seem to be any common reason for it other than the heat.

I am still POSITIVE the front tucked.

On second thought you're probably right.

The fact that the bike appears to turn more sharply after you lose grip is probably due to the fact that the camera is mounted to the bars and not the tank. That means the bars turned into the corner, not the bike. That would indicate that you lost the front after all and not the rear as the steering would turn to the outside of the corner if you had lost the rear.

Good observation. Before the bike hit the pavement there was a very definite feeling of WTF! where did the front go?And then i was sitting beside the tirewall trying to figure out where all the blood came from on my glasses and visor.Peice of windshield got in there and cut the bridge of my nose.Scared the **** out of me.

That corner is way more bumpy than last year. And the line Ric was on is where it's bumpiest ie a couple of feet off the turtle where the cars plant their drivers side wheels. Added to that you had the wrong line, you 'double dipped' the corner, it's a left (not many at 'bogie) so your left side was probably cold, your tire may have been just about done etc etc all add up to the front tucking. On a different day with different circumstances you'd probably plough through the corner like it wasn't there and stay rubber side down. If you're truly comfortable with your throttle and braking control then I'd file it under '**** happens' and move on.

Yup,double dip i did.Wrong place wrong time.Next time i'm at Bogie i'm going out there to give it a really good look.Maybe i'll find the othe half of my XTUltralap.

I'll have a look when I'm up there. I hear there's a growing market for used 1/2 complete XT Ultralap timers!!

Isn't it getting a bit finicky to call any part of the Calabogie track "bumpy"?

Yes, I know. But it's general silky smoothness only serves to magnify any gentle ripples which may be scattered around.

I'm spoilt. What can I say?

Man, Calabogie seems to claim plenty of daily victims... Was there for a day recently and was surprised at the number of bikes that went down... Including my pavement surfing friend featured in the video below (skip to close to the end if you don't wanna see a full lap).
I'm so glad I didn't break my bike on my learning-the-track day there. I'll have another chance in august... what a track!
