I still can't figure out what went wrong. My memory is POSITIVE that the front tucked. But the vid shows otherwise. The muffin grabbed before the gravel trap and did about 3 flips in the air i'm told.I slid most of the way to the curbing and then got launched to the far end of the gravel, ended up sitting against the tire wall trying to signal the marshall that i was conscious. But i couldn't see with blood all over my glasses and visor.I'm ok!:D

Glad to see you're ok. BTW That girl passed you like you're standing still.

That track looks insane!

Glad you're ok.

You're an experienced rider Ric, I appreciate that. But your line looked wide and you were late to turn in. Is it possible you grabbed a bit of front brake? The engine revs certainly fall off just ebfore you go down. Or you tipped in too fast and the left side of your tire was cold. I dunno, just glad you're okay..

When someone like John Bickle tells you that you need "at least a day" to learn the track then you have to respect Johns opinion and the track at Calabogie. I love the place.

Yes i was a bit off line. But not so far as to put me into anything loose. It was extremely hot on saturday. And my onle explanation is maybe the tires have seen better days. They were gripping fine everywhere else tho.But that is a fast turn.I was in the middle of 5th gear with a constant throttle. And no brakes.Oh well?!

And John is correct.Bogie is a big learning curve. And he did a great jog mending my leathers.

OUCH .. sorry to hear Rick.

Looks to me like the front tucked ..

Otherwise, where in the hell did all that oil come from ? From Turn 2 into 3 and again into 14?
We just left there Friday evening, and none of that was there when we were there.

That dude passed you like you're standing still...stop crashing and step it up old man. :D

Awe Ric, glad your ok. Can't see the vid til I go home though. John is awesome eh. He is doing up my leathers too:)

:( That sucks Ric. Glad you're okay! So how's Muffin overall? Maybe you should stay home and rest a bit...you know, just have friends over and cook for them....:laughing8:

Bogie - claimed me as well.

That turn is scary fast. You're coming off a straight away and you're right, prob 5th gear and you kind of have to trust where the apex is because you're cresting a hill. I made a nice little offroad run on that turn, but later in it. Bounced around in the grass on two wheels at like 130km/h, crapped my pants but somehow pulled it back and made the turn at the end.

Later that day I bailed in my last session. Fail blog.

Don't know about t14.The oil in t2 to 3 was from a 999 that lost a cam cover plug on the vertical cylinder. We lost a ton of track time.I'm thinking we had a lot of tire problems due to the heat.It was 35c.And that track is very abrasive.I did a session on sunday with the muffin patched up and teched again.I was doing laps over 3:00 min in beginner group just to get back on again.I'll post a pic of my tire after that session. It should have just been polished up and smooth.
Here's a pic of the tire after 5 three minute laps. Now that i've had a chance to look at it with a clear head, there is something really wrong here!

The Muffin is fine other than body damage.I was given 3 levers and a clip-on to get back out.Great guys!Stubby isn't going to let any of my buds around any too soon.I'm very much in the doghouse...again.Gotta get back to my vacuum and dishes.:(

I questioned my abilities for a fraction of a second on T8 in the second session of my ARC1 a couple weeks ago. Result: I went off-roading. Whoops! Totally fine, though. Laughed about it later. I think I was more embarrassed than anything!

I'm gonna say a change of course mid-corner plus cold tires did it. This is based on how it looked like you weren't going to make the corner at first, and you apexed very early, plus the out lap was pretty slow and I'm guessing no tire warmers?

It also sounded like you were still slowing down slightly even though I'm sure you'd have been off the brakes. My assumption before you crashed was that you were just warming up, given your lines and throttle application, but then you would have had a lot more safety margin and this shouldn't have happened. If that was your normal pace then I'd say work on your lines and get some temp into those tires.

I'm assuming it was tires too.No brakes and a very steady throttlethru there. No tire warmers, but 5km is enough imho.I was doing laps at 2:40 in the morning with no problem.Maybe too many heat cycles?

Just out of curiosity, have you started your bike since the crash? I'm convinced there's a significant drop off in engine revs just before you crashed. Almost like you shifted up. You didn't run out of gas did you? Or some other engine failure?
