Facial injury tips

I'm sure many people on here have received facial injuries from riding.. Having gotten one on Wednesday, I was wondering if any of you guys had tips on dealing with them. The cut is about 2 -3 cm long, right under my eyebrow. The nurse glued it shut (I didnt even know this option existed). I want to put polysporin /vitamin E on it to avoid scarring, but with a layer of glue on it it won't even reach the scar. Should I wait 7-10 days for the glue to wear off then apply the Vitamin E / Polysporin? I wanna get on this asap because I really want to avoid scarring. I was still a but drunk when she was telling me how long to leave the glue on for so to be honest my memory of her instructions is a bit hazy. :(. I can provide a pic if needed but I doubt any of you guys wanna see it lol.

Thanks!

They all got away on late model GSXR's and other SS bikes, so even as I was bleeding and riding, my poor little Ninja 250r couldn't keep up to them to teach em a lesson.

Scars are cool!
Requesting pics.

I'm not a nurse, this isn't my field of study; so I have no advice for you, just want pics. sorry.

My only advice is to NEVER tell anyone this story. IF someone asks you were in a fight.......and there was 2 of them. ;)
and they had bats

LOL Thanks for the advice. I'll try to get a pic up tonight. The facial injury isn't too bad, its my knee and elbow which took the brunt of it.

Start with the Poly till it starts closing up, then vitamin E couple times a day.

I have 10 stitches under my right eye after almost shattering my orbital bone; you can barely see the scar. Took almost a year before it went "away".

and yeah. like Roasted said. There were 4 maybe 5 of them, came out of nowhere. had weapons, jumped you. etc. Bouncing your head off a planter, not as cool sounding.

Lets see it! Ever hear the saying "scars are like tattoos, but with better stories" LOL

Ive got a nice one on my eyebrow the full length of it, it doesn't bother me because people notice the 50+ staple one on my head first...And dont even mention that one...

Sounds like it's gonna be just fine! If 10 stiches healed then this little cut should be healed in no time.
Knee is just bruised up I think, hurts to move it but no swelling. Elbow has usual scrapes/cuts

The story could be that you had a cool eyebrow ring that got pulled out in the fight agains the four guys ;)

Bio oil's really good for scars when it's all healed up. It's a bit pricey, though, so try & get someone to buy it for you from Costco (it's still significantly cheaper than walmart).

Squeezing fresh lemon juice on scars also helps. But I would only do this at night as the hydroxy acids in the citrus juice will make your skin more sensitive to sun. The Alpha & Beta hydroxy acids in the Lemon help exfoliate dead skin (essentially what scars are) and encourage faster cell turnover. Don't do it more than a couple of times a week or it can actually be counter-productive.

Good luck

holy BERT!!!

bio oil and vitamin e oil after the cut is fully healed.

polysporin is only useful for the healing process.

my advice

when the cut properly scabs over, put polysporin and bandage during the day. leave it air at night.
once the scab comes off on its own (dont pick), then vit. e it.

my scars cleaned up nicely using this method.

You definitely shouldn't seek advice from a doctor. THAT MUCH, I know.

^ agreed. Motorbikers know much more about this stuff than doctors ever will.

On the other hand doctors can help with countersteering issues.
