When you unfriend someone do they get notified or do their posts just stop appearing?

I want to end one relatives constant "Look at me posts" They're into the equestrian scene and post every time the horse farts. They post where they went to lunch, the movie they went to, they post that they did things and even post that they didn't do anything.

However I don't want to start a family feud, so can I dump them?
 
Isn't that what Facebook is for nowadays? A "please tell me how great I am" "look at me aren't I great" "pay me attention" piece of software.

I use it more for sharing photos with family but now that dropbox is so easy to use I'll probably use that instead.

I still have fun posting inane comments on other people's "glory posts" though.

Although I'm more partial to simply unfriending people. I unfriended my aunt because she's psychotic and I was sick of her crap. I also have my mother on limited profile. Her world is small, so she feels compelled to give me the twenty questions about everything and everyone on my FB.
 
I've unfriended peripheral people that I had no real interaction with....only to have them message me and go on about how awful I was because I unfriended them. Get a life. It's facebook!

Just hide thier posts or put them on limited profile.
 
I pared about 100 people from my account last week. The way I see it, if I'm never going to call that person I worked with for 3 months 5 years ago, why am I letting them look at pictures of my life? I'm all for keeping real friends & family in the loop but I got rid of a lot of people that I'd probably never see again anyway, including family members. If they don't like it, that's their problem.

I've done the same thing. I've also unfriended people that I feel bring negative energy into my life. I don't need that.

After this post I had to double check that we're still facebook friends....was surprised to find that this was the case! lol

And yeah, I have one guy filtered out of my feed cause he continuously posts his bodybuilding "progress pics/vids" of himself on fb and statuses about how much of a badass and gangsta he is to the point where I want to punch him in the face
