F1 Thread!!!

So yo are saying that there's no engineering prowess in 1.6 V6 pushing 700HP or whatever the secret figure is? Call me confused ... I think there's a lot more engineering prowess nowadays than there used to be when they were using normally aspirated V10s ... otherwise I don't get what's the big deal.

He is referring to Honda specifically, since their exit from the sport. However I would argue the engine in a modern F1 car is easily the least engineered component, particularly considering the development freeze that took place in 2008.

well.....getting up at 515am was worth it cause all the action happened in the first two laps

two horse race for the WDC now

Well......after qualifying, for Alonso, he better take advantage of the situation.

Lets see how well he capitalises on it.

.

Don't push the "Ice-Man" to give you his true feelings becuase he will surely tell you what he feels. Go Ice-Man!

The podium speeches just made my day, you say **** i'll say **** haha.

Kimi...the Iceman cometh

I wonder how many years it will take the FIA to find out what RBR is really up to? Something is odd.

Great race. They should start Vettel from pit lane every race. Makes for a level playing field and exciting racing. Well done Kimi. Coulthard trying for damage control during the podium speeches, priceless.

"Leave me alone i know what i'm doing" awesome.

this. :laughing3:

Watched it on the Speed feed. Felt like I was watching NFL. The commentators with their silly "screen pen", circling and drawing arrows pointing out the obvious.

Great race though. From beginning right to podium speeches.

Million times better than listening to the BBC call out every single thing that's happening on screen like cracked-out seven year olds. I have eyes!!

So now we know who does Speed air F1 races for ... LOL

Seriously, you cannot be serious claiming Speed better over BBC, or anyone else.

I am - every single broadcaster on the planet that covers the races does the screen pen thing, you might just not be noticing it. I can't STAND listening to David Coulthard second-guess the other drivers all the time, suggesting how they should have done something. The only problem I have with the Speed coverage is Will Buxton - he's not a bad guy, he's just not as good as Peter Windsor was - everybody in F1 knew Peter and liked him, and would have no problem talking to him. The Speed crew is pretty good about catching things happening on track even before the F1 broadcast director does, they don't talk over the team radio broadcasts, Matchet is up to date on how the cars actually work and provides information instead of speculation, Hobbs and Varsha have an incredible knowledge of most of the people involved in the sport, beyond just the drivers and the team principals but including past and present working relationships...

What more do you want?

Unfortunately for you it must all come to an end...http://www.businessweek.com/ap/2012-10-12/ap-sources-speed-wont-air-f1-after-this-season

Yeah, already had heard. I have the feeling Fox has been considering dropping it for some time, and finally they could make the case for that. I don't think it bodes well for anything non-NASCAR on Speed; if they can't be bothered to cover F1, why should they care about MotoGP, Superbike, Le Mans, or anything else? It would be nice if the crew got hired somewhere else but nobody sees that happening.
