exhaust question.

Hey everybody. I just had a question about exhaust set-ups.

My bike came with a Two-Bros full exhaust but the can is faded or warn out. The carbon fiber is now a yellowish brown color and looks terrible.

The question is. Would I be able to just replace the can with say.. a Graves one?

Would it be a bad idea to swap cans out like that? would it do more harm than good? I dont want to spend money on a full system if I could just buy a Graves slip on instead.

You might have fueling issues with a different brand can on there. The header pipe from Two Bros. could be slightly larger or smaller in diameter than what Graves makes. Is the bike EFI or carbeurated?

Bike is FI, 2007 r6

Does the bike have some kind of fuel management system like a Power Commander or Bazzazz? If it does, do you know if it has a map for that specific slip on?

Oh crap, good question. I havnt really had a chance to be with my bike since I got it in the fall and didnt insure it and had it put away, but from what I know it does have power commander. Not sure how its mapped out tho.

Ok so if it does have a power commander, all you have to do is download the software to your laptop (just do a goggle search for it) find the map for the appropriate slip on you are planning to buy and install it, once you get your bike, plug the laptop to the Power Commander and upload the slip on map to your Power commander and you are good to go.

There are plenty of Youtube videos that will show you how

Good luck, if you need further help just ask

Cool thanks, I was on the powercommander website looking at maps. If I currently have a full two bros and Im only putting on a graves slip on. still have the two bros header and everything else, I just download the map for a graves slip-on?

oh you have a full system.

WHy not just get another two brothers slip on and maintain your full exhaust?

If you decide to still change the slip on then I would leave the map the way it is - other might think otherwise

Yep. I like how the Graves carbon fiber looks. The Two bros on my bike right now is like a yellow brownish color now. Not too sure what happend lol but I just wanted to switch it up. I have seen the new two bros slip on, seems pretty expensive tho

Sell the complete system and buy something better. Akra, Graves, Leo Vince, etc.

http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com or exhaust wrap and call it a day. Doesn't really answer your question but its probably the cheapest way and least amount of work.

The name on the muffler - honestly - doesn't make one whit of difference.

All common aftermarket mufflers that aren't built as "OEM replacement" are built the same way: Perforated tube up the middle, enclosure of some sort around the outside, the space between the inside perforated tube and the outside shell is packed with fiberglass or something similar. If you can see right through it, then it's this type of muffler, and the name doesn't matter. What DOES matter is the diameter and the length (and the fitment - whatever it uses to secure the muffler to the bike). So, the fuel delivery is the least of your concerns.

The inside diameter of the muffler is designed to fit over the outside diameter of the front part of the exhaust system. That dimension has to match very accurately (so, measure it accurately). And the bracket that attaches the muffler to the bike has to be right ... if the muffler was originally designed for some other header section, its positioning on the bike might not be exactly right - but this sort of thing is normally pretty easy to sort out if you have to.

Mufflers and exhaust systems designed and built in North America (includes Two Bros and Graves as far as I know) use imperial dimensions. Odds are, the muffler inlet will be either 2" or 2.25". But - measure it. If the dimension is right and the outside shape is roughly right, you can make it fit. Won't affect fuel delivery in any meaningful way.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I am curious about what can cause a carbon exhaust to turn colour?

Is it better to stay with a stainless exhaust rather than a non-carbon exhaust?

It's usually the heat that will cause fading in CF parts, anodized parts, etc.
I think build quality plays a role here, I've logged close to 17K KM's on my CF Akpraovic and it still looks like new.

Cool thanks for the info.

I doubt it will be 2" and even less 2.25" - Most I came across when I was looking for one was less than 2"

Hmm Would anyone happen to know if the two bros and graves are the same measurements???

google is not really telling me much

Hey, if I buy a Graves carbon slip on for a yamaha R6, and it does not fit. Would anyone want to buy it off me? :D

I will trade you a Titanium Two Bros Black Series slip on for it.

It looks great from every angle except from the left side of the bike, looking through the frame/wheel area. I got hit by a guy and it got dented over the swingarm. Insurance replaced it, plus cash, with an Akra full system.

I was planning on using it when I put track bodywork on, and take my Akra pipe off... but if you want to keep it 100% true Two Bros, then you definitely want to hit me up.
