Everyone's Favourite Subject Leather Suits!

Was $3000 for the custom fit D-air? or off the shelf D-air?

I think compared to other air suits out there its the cheapest.

$3,000 was the off the shelf D-Air suite. Custom fit was considerably more and a different suite. Completely geared to racing. Don't know the cost. Re-arming is $300 and Riders Choice is probably going to be able to do the repair. Matt, said that he was getting trained and certified to do so.

A guy i know bought a custom d-air and iirc he said it was around $4500

I am hoping for Santa to bring me a new A* Atem suit and new gloves.
John has been amazing at repairing my old one but it is one crash away from blowing up into something that may resemble a thong.

My thoughts exactly. Expensive sport to begin with. And then you need to factor in the cost of rearming it after it deploys. And if you deploy it on a Sat you are basically racing the Sunday with a conventional suit since track side rearming is not available.

And who knows how much it is to put back after it's deployed. But you do have to take it to an authorized Dainese retailer.

Does anyone use Motoport at the track? How does it hold up?

Riders Choice told me $300. On Revzilla.com they have a good video review of the suite. $250 US reset of the air system. Price guaranteed by Dainese for two years. After that, who knows. The other potential issue is any damage to the suite. According to the Revzilla review, you might have to send the suite to Dainese for repairs, before they will reset the air system. I can understand why but.... Can that be done locally by Riders Choice? I doubt it. Would they accept a repair from John Bickle or others? Doubt it. Have to send it to Dainese in California probably. Time and money. Still love the suite though. A few uncertainties for sure.

Again the guy i know said that his suit was to be sent to the usa. For $300 the inflation system was put back together and any repairs to the leather were also covered in this amount.
It may have been a promotional thing. I don't know.
This was all done by the rep at Indy motgp. He was there measured him, ordered and everything.

I doubt $300 would also cover any repair. Thats too good to be true..... especially for the Demon!

With Dainese it is a money/service thing. Someone that has worked with suits for nearly 25 years is not able to service a suit but someone that has never repaired.serviced suits can take a course and is able to. Now where is this course? IF this is so good for the sport then sell the suit for a reasonable price and help the industry service it. In theory more riders would be safer and build brand loyalty because of it.
My 2 cents

hey guys looking for a good leather repair place. went down in my custom IMLEATHER suit and now i have a couple of holes to fix ;) can anyone recommand a place. not really interested in patches
Problem you will have is finding someone that uses proper leather and not fashion leather. replacing panels is not cheap. Suit has to be taken apart and patterns made and then essentially re-made. It does take time as well. So many will not work on leather race suits as it is too much work. Plus you will have to find someone that can get surface dyed leather and the same weight as IM or it won't match. Most suits are made with tumble dyed.

If I drop of the suit would you be able to give me a quote.

That's what we do, but I do not use surface dyed leather. I can try and source some. But if we are replacing panels that will be the hard part.
You can ship it as well as we get suits by all couriers. If you are dropping by this time of year it is by appointment or by chance. we're never far so let me know. Best to use my e-mail[below] it's immediate.

This is my case as well, Bickle rocks. As soon as I crash "too" many times I start to feel embarrassed at asking him to repair it (again). It's my bar for buying a new suit.

Riders Choices service for the $300 was just to reset the airbag system and didn't include any repairs. I doubt RC will do any repairs above and beyond the air bag reset.

Perfect I will email you and we can plan something out. I'm not concerned with the color as I want to change the color on the other side. Do it kind of like Rossi. So if I keep crashing on right turns its OK lol.

so I stopped by Speed worx over the weekend to check out their helmet sale and try on one of their suit and the thing fit me like a glove, i tried on a few other suits at RC lest week, and thought one of the Dainese suit was not bad until i tried on the Racer5 suit, I think its gonna be hard to find something that fits better at the show

If it fit like a glove with your back protector etc on, I hope you bought it because that is hard to find for a lot of people.

I would have, but no stock coming in until January ish
