Ever had your new to you bike scare the pants of you?

Turbo Zx14 :)?
If that doesnt do better enroll in a space program to get on a rocket ship

I "downgraded" to a VF500F for a while to free up money. Then I went from that to a ZX-11 ... just going around the neighbourhood had me giggling stupid. Then I took it on the highway for the first time and it peeled my face off accidentally.
I nearly ripped my arms off on a 1000.
Luckily I work out :o

Sent from my tablet using my paws

I too once fell in an underground garage at a turn... but that was my first day on a 600 four years ago with no trianing

Other than that, I've had ***** in my pants moments on unfamiliar roads thinking if I should hit the front brake or the rear

in 1979 the cbx was the worlds fastest porduction bike and i was 22. i had that bike around mosport and watkins glen in my younger racing days. i have many memories of neer death , like hitting the old humber river bridge on the qew at over 160 klm 2 up and taking off like evil kenevil, makes james bond look like a pussey on his bmw jumping roof tops.

Left GP on my new 1098 afew years back. Got on the 401 and opened the throttle. I will never forget that moment.

First time on my X7 was a real sphincter clencher as well.

When I went from my VF500 to my ol' 2nd gen VFR750 I got on an on ramp and ripped through 2nd and 3rd merging onto HY410. (Like I used to with the VF500)

I looked down at the speedo and crapped myself at where the needle was.

You would understand - when you pull on the highway on a VF500F, it's like spurring a mule. It will pick up speed, somewhat almost quickly even, but it's whirring its guts out. Passing people, also possible, but you plan those manoeuvres in your head, hah. Transitioning from that to the ZX11 (very smooth at speed, by the way) and it sorta felt like you were in the acid trip montage from 2001: Space Odyssey. Then you look down and realize that's not the tach sweeping up, it's the speedo, lol.

I went from 2.5 years on a Ninja 250 to an SV 1000. My first wheelie (unintentional) scared me a little. Something about the clutch on the SV lets it slip under hard power to a certain point, and then it just locks up. I was trying to launch it off a light like I used to when I had the 250, just wanted to see how quick i could get it off the line. did like I used to on the ninja, once I got it rolling started to roll on the gas harder and harder while letting the clutch slip and all of a sudden the clutch just grabbed and the front wheel started skyward :o Totally wasn't prepared for that. I thought I might get an inch or two power wheelie, but this thing must have come up a foot LOL

using the quickshifter from first to second at WOT getting on the 406 north, first time I got the front wheel off the ground, was not expecting that

I hear ya. I had the same bike and it scared me more than once. Left a bit to be desired in the suspension department, IMO, even with a fork brace.

I hear ya good buddy ;)

when trying to do clutchless wheelies for the first time on a new to me z1000.
Everyone kept saying its so bloody easy on z1000forum, i still couldnt get it to lift...turns out i was being a pussy.
cracked the throttle a bit further/harder and almost flew off the back...it was "sphincter clenching" for sure. So fun to be able to do that in gears 1-3.

also first 600cc coming from an old 250. that was crazy crazy

I had just come off a BMW K75RT and bought a '95 Kawasaki GPz1100. On the way home I was mindful of the break-in and was trying to keep it below 5000rpm. On the 427 I looked down at the tach and saw that I was around 5500rpm, so I rolled off a bit. I started wondering why traffic was so slow that day and couldn't figure it out, until my eyes strayed over to the speedo; 160 Kmh. That thing was bloody smooth.

I'd bought a '73 RD350 that had been in storage since 1978 two years ago. 32 years in a garden shed. Brought it home and sort of checked the bikes weren't siezed, the fork seals where leaking and the tires had some checks in the sidewalls.
They need a charged battery to fire so I pulled the battery out of my snowblower and bungy corded it to the seat and wired some jumpers, poured in fresh gas and it sparked up on the fifth kick.
I took off down my subdivision court and the wheel came up going into third, it didnt want to stop at corner in the cresent and the rock hard tires slide beautifully, nearly crapped myself.
Came back up the street and my wife said, "its just here to be resold right?" , I nodded appropriately and a guy in Hamilton bought it a week later.

and a guy in Hamilton bought it a week later.

thread jack, sorry

was that Hamilton guy somewhat portly, sporting a Brit accent? 'cause, you know it's a small world.

ok, thread jack off

I got a 675R and yes the power is EVEREWARE. 600 dose not have the same power setup of a 675 and you need to be carful. Its less of a beginner bike then a 600 is. the torque curve is almost flat so it quite nice but power is available throughout the rpm range

EVERYWHERE!!!! I'm glad someone understands lol. It's torquey as my SV but delivers power like an R6 in it's top RPM range...across the whole range. I can feel all the horses at 4000rpm
