Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Nice yard. Sometimes I regret that we didn't buy a place with a pool. Would definitely be fun I'm sure.
For the first year or two, it was.
We spent most of the year, through to October/November in it.
Now nobody wants to clean it, and since it's there all the time, it's rarely used.

We've had a couple pools, everytime I'm without one, I miss a pool, then we get another house with a pool.......
When our kids were small it was amazing fun, but no one but me ever cleaned it, thats just life. Small kids=great time to own a pool. After that, they drink your beer and still dont vaccuum it.

We are considering one of those above ground pools when the kids get a bit older.

Cousins have it and seem to enjoy it yearly and they’re less than $500 so may be worth it for a summer or not.

I like the concept of those inflatable pools for a few summers of cheap fun. I haven't actually used one to know if there are any major drawbacks. Wife really wanted a real pool so we have one. I would have been happier with the inflatable kind that you can easily abandon when people stop using it.

Wife is out back painting the trim on the shed I built. Actually went and bought paint, pulled out a brush and without even needing to watch a youtube video on how to hold a paintbrush she's at it. Its like a ******* miracle moment.

That’s awesome

My cousins have the inflatable and love it. I’d purchase one of those with a rigid frame as I prefer that style....but still for $500 you can have a few summers of fun.

they come with the filter, pumps and all you need. Just add water!

Pool robot and salt system was the greatest investment I ever made. Pool is always clean and ready to go. Check the levels every week or two and swim.

When the kids were small the pool was great. They didn’t need it to be 100degrees to use it. The constant use meant I hardly needed to vacuum.

Now the wife wants it to be hot for the odd time it gets used. I cant use a creepycrawley — too many trees. The twigs fthe trees cause them to cannibalize themselves.

I’m starting to use it for fitness, 40 laps a day.

Salt conversion was worthwhile, really cut the cost of chemicals.1F121896-061A-4B69-B34A-3C9E8FEDDDF8.jpeg

Finally got stage 1 of the warrior course done.
Will eventually add a salmon ladder and then some finger holds along the side.
I had to crawl on top to drill and screw, so I know it's gonna hold.
And I even added some triangles @GreyGhost
My kid is able to get to the 3rd obstacle.
First 2 days he fell after the first one.

I'm sad we don't have pics of JB doing his cat/ninja warrior dance across the top.
I'll see if my son took some lol
Probably look like a 250lb scared cat! LMFAO

Anyone have any experience mounting a fence onto concrete? my parents want to run a 6' tall fence (4x4 posts, 1x6 board) approx. 30 feet down the one side of their house. There is already a concrete pathway and the last owner seemed to have the same idea as there is a 6"x6" curb/footing running on the far side - basically like this minus the cast in place posts.

Was thinking of using something like these and epoxying in place. I guess my main concern is the amount of leverage the fence would be putting onto the concrete footing. I could install 2-3 tiebacks to the house if necessary. Curious to hear everyone's opinions. There is the option of doing a traditional post down to the frost line however they would need to talk the neighbor into pulling out part of their beloved hedge.

I prefer these as it keeps the bottom of the post from sitting in water. I've never used them for a fence though, I would be concerned about the posts twisting out.

EDIT:
This one would be much better for a fence but bleep me, HD wants a mint for them.

A tieback for lateral stability is a great idea if you can incorporate it (especially if there is a gate hanging off the last post).
