Wow.

So I had originally posted a simple question because I made the mistake of not reading my manual or how to check the oil levels from a viewing window. I came from a stick based bike before so things were a bit new to me so I was really confused as to why oil levels would be changing in window.

After realizing I had placed too much oil in, I ended up searching on gixxer on how to remove it. Looks like somebody else wanted to do what I wanted to do.

Again, I apologize for not knowing what seems to be common sense to you guys.

Now....

I work in an open-source programming environment. Long story short, I get more "stupid" questions asked in a day than this forum gets asked in a year due to the amount of n00b programmers that come onto our irc channel. I, and among others, make it our jobs to spend at least an hour a day answering questions and reminding n00bs that no question is too stupid because we were all there at one point.

Most of my colleagues know I'm a proud owner of a motorcycle and I talk about riding on my spare time quite a bit. But...seriously, the community on GTAM makes me ashamed of associating myself with riders. I know 3 others who used to post on these boards.

1 poster posts under a male alias even though she is female in life. She noticed that men on these boards act more stupid and immature than MMORPG hardcore fat nerds at the mention of a female.

The other is a car mechanic, around 20 years old, and realized the same thing I did but didn't bother posting anymore because of being crucified for asking questions.

And the last is, ironically, another GSXR-750 owner that is also a programmer whom no longer posts here because he straight up said "the community blows".

I love riding and I don't think I will ever stop riding unless I'm physically incapable of doing so but I have never met a community so unreasonably hostile in my life. This is coming from communities that include some of the most **** talking in the world (World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, etc.).

Long story short, I don't think I'll be posting here much anymore unless there are some really urgent questions I need to ask. I've got deadlines and milestones to meet right now and things like this poke at me the wrong way. I hope you guys got a self-esteem boost and entertainment out from my stress.

2008 GSXR-750

After installing an alarm system, I turned on the bike to make sure I didn't screw it up and figured I might as well check the oil as well. I turn off the bike and my gf tells me that the oil window is empty. I go down and look at it while she straightens the bike and....it's empty. So we run to her house to go grab the remainder of her synthetic (there was like 300ml left). Pour it in, straighten the bike...oil is full?!?!?!?! Run the bike, turn it off, oil is full again? Wtf is going on? I miss my dip stick.

EDIT: Nvm, just checked the manual. I'm an idiot. Now....how do I take oil out? -_____-

You should post this question on www.gixxer.com/forums/

Is this thread about putting energy drink in tank?

This is so awesome.
Even awesome is not awesome enough to magnify the brilliance of this thread...
Another proud gsx-r owner.

I think it's about time I sell mine, any takers?

If you find that a forum continually hounds you for asking stupid questions, then you need to search more. Use Google, and don't rely on GTAM (which is a local-based forum) for questions specific to your make/model of bike - That's what manufacturer-specific (and even model-specific) forums are for.

I'm handy with a wrench, but far from a mechanic, and I've never had any experience with motorcycles prior to 2009. Google can answer almost ANY question about my motorcycle that I can think of, so I've never felt butt-hurt by people telling me I'm a newb.

As a programmer, I'd have thought you'd be more savvy regarding internet forums and internet research in general.

Post or don't post, :whocares:... Keep the rubber side down, bro.

You are saying that you won't post here again? Cause people made fun of you?

Honestly, you should know what kind of forum GTAM is wiithin 10 mins of your first visit... either get a thicker skin, or move on to other communities that are more to your liking...

As a software worker, you should be able to do some research before asking the questions that sends everybody into a fit. This is what causes people to lose their mind and goof on the question askers. It was a 30 second search to find the answer, but once again you create a thread asking. SEARCH! All the information in the world is out there. If it's bike specific, go to a forum that specializes in YOUR bike. Not everything needs to be plopped on GTAM.

Lol, its a forum with a bunch of guys. I've had my share in the early days
