Elon is killing it

@mimico_polak Narcissists and even more so Sociopaths don't typically have the same issues most of us have with financial risk and how the failure could impact those around them. How it could impact them (positive or negative) is all that matters, changes the equation substantially.

I rarely lose at Monopoly as I play it like a Sociopath, I could never do that in real life.
But it's the same as the sociopaths and narcissists...Monopoly money isn't your money.

No different than day traders doing great when it's fake money they play with. All of a sudden, throw in real money...and those risky trades have actual consequences.

Anyone on GTAM want to front me a few hundred thousand? I'm going to double it in a week I promise. But if I don't...sorry I guess.

He had a good head start (as pretty much all billionaires and wealthy people do...regardless of what they tell you)

Bezos borrowed $248K from his parents to start Amazon IIRC. Paid it back to them in stock options. Worked out well for them in the end.

‘Borrowed’ as in if he loses it he doesn’t need to pay it back? And if he paid back with stocks does that mean they get zero should it fail?

My dad ‘borrowed’ me 5k once and when I went to pay it back he said to keep it.

Borrowing from parents is different than from others. And let’s just state the fact…most parents don’t have 248k to borrow / invest / give. So while he may have borrowed it….it’s still NOT his money to lose.

Shouldn't have used the term borrowed. According to the history his parents invested in the company, which meant they took stock options off the bat.

So back to not his money. Going to zero wouldnt affect his life other than potentially the relationship with his parents. He wasn't risking housing for his children.

In the same vein, you can't compare Bezos to Drumpf or Musk. Stalemate. Diaper Don screwed over his own brother (Mary Trump's father) re: the old man's estate. He ended up committing suicide.

In a way yes. Hard to compare. BUT trump did get a massive 1M (?) loan from daddy to start a business.

I get a mill from my parents…I’m sure they can afford to lose it.

Plus…narcissism and sociopath tendencies there too if you can screw your own family like that.

That's the figure Trump claims. It's closer to $60M.

It's rather hiliarious how Trump is insanely inflated his personal weath and values of his properties beyond even remote levels of reality (as is evidenced by his recent court issues on those topics), yet dramticallly deflated how much money he was gifted by daddy.

Just proves my point....

'small loan of $1M' = '60M'
'self made millionaire' = no
'never repaid' = free money

The ultra rich want us to continue to think that they're self made, so they can sell the dream that any of us can do it.

But reality is...they had that silver spoon since Day 1 (and before)...so the opportunity for a normal person is very different.

I read a cool quote once about everyone having 'the same 24h'...bullcrap...total and utter bullcrap...

Gotta make himself more relatable to the little people. You know...for votes.

How does that prove your point that Bezos should be lumped in with the likes of Musk and Trump?

That was a few posts back. My point here was that they’re not self made and get large injections of ‘loans’ from family instead of being ‘self made’ and starting from zero.

You're still lumping in the apples with the oranges.
