It looks like they got goombas to speak so we don't have to listen to JT. Tech problems and they disconnected them all though.

Omar Alghabra
Our government continues to take unprecedented action
Strongest border restrictions in the world
Strict 14 day quarantine
New rules for some international travel (multi-layer approach blah blah blah)
NOTAM India/Pakistan all commercial and private passenger flights suspended at midnight for 30 days.
If you take an indirect route, you need a negative covid test.
We have robust border restrictions in place.
Data shows our measures are working.

^ Came here to say this.

They took too long to reach this decision...better late than never I suppose.

I dont get it though - why did countries like China, India etc still allow people to fly out when things were/are so bad at one point?
Wouldn't it be the right thing to do and self lockdown to contain the spread?

Isn't that what New Zealand did?

Watch airlines now add flights on “indirect routes” as direct flights get cancelled.

I didnt even think of that...

Close the damn borders for 30 days is my vote...allowing only supplies of course..

More like never, this is partly why we are all sitting here isolating a year later, yet they've let thousands of people into the country ?‍♂️

The land borders need to step things up. You hand over your passport at a land border too right? Not hard to see if that’s been used for an international flight recently.

You're still trying to fix the problem. JT and team are trying to pretend to fix the problem while causing as little disruption as possible. You have diametrically opposed goals.

I want to see the borders sealed up tighter than a nun's chuff! As they should have been from the start. All our current woes can be traced back to a lot of US travel with a small amount of other international traffic.

I 100% agree with your approach. I wasn't kidding about JT being criminally negligent. I think there is a very real argument that he deserves to be charged and tried for ignoring public health in the quest for votes and power.

He's the teflon PM.

And when has china or India ever done the right thing? Torturing humans and animals? Shooting prisoners and harvesting their organs? Painting toys with lead paint? Melamine in baby food? Manipulating currency? dumping garbage and toxic waste in rivers and oceans? Imprisoning people for no reason?Caste system? Acid attacks ? Honor killings ? Polluting and on and on.

Biggest daily increase in Atlantic Canada for more than a year. Halifax entering near total lockdown. It was “only” 38 cases but they are being proactive, not reactive. This is how Australia and New Zealand got to where they are now.

Stop asking why China locked down domestic flights in and out of Wuhan at the start of the pandemic while allowing international flights to continue as per usual from the lockdown area. The WHO already investigated and said they did everything right.

This is a step, but don’t let people come from hot zones (at the very least) indirectly.

So much wrong with this approach. Same as you can’t drive to Canada from the US, but you can walk, fly or take a chopper.

It’s going to get worse as JT scrambles from votes. And the ethnic groups love him, so he’ll do whatever he can to support it.

Yep, cue the indirect routes in 3....2....1....

And haven't they learned that the negative test thing doesn't guarantee a whole lot in the end given the incubation period?

Honestly...how is at a year later we're still playing these games?

It should be simple....if you've been in India in the last 30 days you're not welcome here. THE END. Sorry. (It wouldn't be Canadian without the sorry)
