Depends... but if you're talking Level 1 charger...i'm pretty sure they're equivalent. (i think you're looking at 16amps for level 1 vs 10amps for block heater) but i'm no expertWhat's the draw of a block heater VS charging an E-car?

Block heater is ~500 to 1000W. Reasonable ev charger is ~4000W.What's the draw of a block heater VS charging an E-car?
Prius Prime plug in draws 12 amps....so pretty similar draw to a block heater.Depends... but if you're talking Level 1 charger...i'm pretty sure they're equivalent. (i think you're looking at 16amps for level 1 vs 10amps for block heater) but i'm no expert
For plug in hybrids (volt/prime/etc) you can possibly get away with level 1 charging. For pure EV's with no ICE backup, only having a level 1 charger would be beyond painful. If you got behind (eg a long trip or a few days of higher mileage) it could literally take days of charging to get back to full. Ideally you are only charging in off-peak times, so then days becomes a week.Prius Prime plug in draws 12 amps....so pretty similar draw to a block heater.
EV vehicles are just like motorcycles....all kinds of different options for different people. Again for the majority of the population (who own more than one car per household) an EV that travels 40km is more than enough...and a plug in HV gives you the gas range after that for your once a week (or a month) trips longer than that. You also have EVs that can travel 300kms and they do need a different charger. But lots of people never drive that far in their gas vehicles. There is a spectrum of needs and a bunch of options to match. Yes they don't fill everyone's needs.....but the majority could own some kind of EV/plug in HV etc vehicle and see the benefit. For plug in hybrids (volt/prime/etc) you can possibly get away with level 1 charging. Do you really think they would though? I was surprised that most people there don't know what a subaru is considering that they have bad winters. They just don't have lots of dealerships lol. It's usually 1 pickup in the household and 1 sedan... and a quad...a skidoo...and a boat lolPetro Can just announced a cross Canada charging ability....Electric Highway....nothing on the Rock though. lol
