I had a similar issue with the placement of the LED bulb black-box and ended up snipping the black-box connectors and re-soldering the same connectors with longer wires. This gave me more flexibility in location. The black-box is not very big and with the longer wires you can put it on a frame rail or under the tank or behind the cowling. I used zip ties and even velcro will do it.
With regard to the beam spread, if the lens and/or reflector is designed for a halogen bulb then in most cases the LED bulb in the stock headlamp will not have the same projected spread. Yes, it will be brighter but the pattern and cut-off will have a lesser area of illumination.
