EICMA..new Aprilia RSV4 RF

It might be a poor seller. Everybody knows they just buy these bikes to pick up chicks

Sorry honey, you can't come along, ya know, weight distribution.

So wait is the rr between the rsv4r and factory? Or is it the new factory? Such confusion
What's with all these 200hp beasts guess that's what happens when gas prices drop 20 cents lol

The RR will be the standard bike and the RF will be a special edition. Expect a Factory to show up after that, and the guess is... updated Ohlins kit - NIX30/TTX suspension. I don't know if they kept or tossed the variable intake manifold for the RR or RF, interested in that.

The RR will be the standard version and you can have it equipped with the light weight wheels and ohlins suspension as an option making it equal to the current "Factory" version.

Looks like it's still there. Mentioned in most of the spec links under "Engine" (just looked at your last link as well, look at the Engine paragraph that starts with "starting from the top, the 65 V4..." it's mentioned mid-paragraph)

The variable intake ducts are pretty impressive. I remember reading about this in Benz cars. This is to maximize torque at both low & high rpm. The true motorheads will understand this.

Very impressed this has trickled down into bikes

....... in 2009, for the RSV4 Factory. :)

I believe that the R1 also has used this tech since 2007.

All this motorcycle magazine I've read & they've never mentioned it. I need to cancel my subscription

As a technology, its rather old and not worth mentioning any more. It's been used on cars since the late 80s. I think Audi did it first. Everyone gives it a different name.

Uhhh... I got a back seat with my RSV4. What expensive aftermarket setup are you talking about?

Now, on the RF I don't see any rear pegs... I assume for weight reasons. It might have a lightweight subframe too, like the CBR1000RR SP or a Ducati Monoposto.

Their first WSBK specials (RSV Mille R, RSV Mille SP) didn't have rear seat/pegs either, you had to order the regular bike subframe, seat, and pegs if you wanted to carry passengers.

Want to know what the electronics control system looks like?

How a company the size of Aprilia comes up with this stuff, I don't know. Dang.

And here's their integration with the Skully helmet:

1. They buy it from a software company, this has been done before in cars:

2. They are small enough to invest heavily in R&D with shareholders or other MBA types trying squeeze every nickel of profit, stalling innovation (the CDN business model of everything).
3. In that part of Italy, there is a massive high-tech culture in manufacturing technology that is seamless with Germany, they specialize in low volume, cutting edge. It looks all picturesque and quaint, but those small towns are full of 3D printers, laser cutters, and a whole bunch of tech that you will never see in righty-tighty, lefty-loosy Ontario manufacturing.

Wow. As a software developer myself I find this **** extremely interesting! Useful? Not sure... but interesting nonetheless

Most phones have accelerometers and GPS, some are 6-axis.
I think the future will be like Gran turismo 6, where you can do real laps around a track to collect data, and watch it virtually presented in the game. Then, you try and beat your real ghost times to see where you can improve. There are packages that do this on high end sims used by F1 teams.

This thing is pretty much a gimmick. Even in MotoGP, they collect massive amount of data and it takes a full-time PhD engineer to analyse it and try and tell the rider what they learned from it.

I'm liking this "a".

That's actually a pretty sweet looking ride but lol the urine sample on handle bar.
