So I hate having to imagine riding a motorcycle by riding my mountain bike with my helmet and motocross jacket. Ended up selling my GS500F to help pay for school. I'm driving a gas guzzling van. I get approx 600-700km per tank at $70 (sucks in the city, stop and go just WASTES gas) It has a hole in the muffler and ain't fixing it. So I want a better way to get places. Bus takes 1 hr in total and is boring. I like to transport myself places.

I like the idea of an EBIKE, no fuel (id only use it to get to school and back), no license, no insurance, cheap, some look ok. Seen a few sitting around the campus - no tickets and they park pretty much beside the door.
OR
Would getting a cbr 125 be something to think about getting too? I'd have to fork up around $3800 for the year (bike, insurance, maintenance, etc etc)
 
get the cbr125....its really easy to handle and cheap on the go.

mine is for sale: 2008 in white with 4500km, never dropped.

1998 Ford Windstar - has a hole in the muffler...yes, city stop and go WASTES that much.
 
CBR is nice
50cc scoot likely a lot less overall cost especially for insurance.
Depending on distance eBike is fine - nicest are the eAssist bicycles since you have a bike backround anyways.

IF you got a 250 Ninja tho then you can take longer trips.

my van gets 1000km on a 101 litre fillup - Ottawa and back on a single fill up.

700k on a $70 fill up is about correct.
Don't comment on something you don't know about....kinda takes away from your cred eh ;)

MickeyD's, I'm not sure what your problem is but I stand by my statement.
You cannot/will not get 600-700 KM's out of a 60 L tank on a 98 Windstar, just not going to happen.

Your 100 L van, on a highway ride you can probably get close to 1000 KM's but not quite... ;)
(Also depending on what size motor)

Yes, highway its fine, 100km/h cruise control will get me about 900km.
Its the leak in the muffler that is effecting the km drastically.

That mileage is better than my jetta!

I don't believe you!
A TDI Jetta will get just over 900 K's/tank...
Your Ford Windstar, is not even close to seeing those kind of numbers.

Your getting better milage then my acura rsx. I'd be stoked to get as much as you are in your van.
 
CBR 125 - And nothing wrong w/ your mpg. My Cherokee is $90 to fill and I get about 500 kms.
 
Your van "should" be getting worse mileage then your claiming.

I try and drive to get the best fuel consumption out of it - some of you are probably the fast accelerators, speed to red lights and sit there while I maintain speed and try and time it so I don't have to stop etc...

But yea, Im driving this van now and I guess I was just a custom to a small 4cylinder car that was much cheaper before thats gone now.

This makes complete sense. 80L to fill up and you get roughly 500 K's.
My F-150 was 80L to fill and I barely got 500 K's... these are all reasonable numbers.

900 K's on a 98 Windstar?... Yeah Ok!
 
I'd be delighted if my '03 Escape got 900 kms on a tank of gas. It usually costs around $65 to fill and I get 500 kms out of it. Unless I'm working DT and get stuck in rush hour traffic. Then I'm lucky to get 350 kms out of a tank. :(

I've seen some frame mounted electric motors that let you use the bike's gears. Then you can offroad the sucker without worrying about destroying the hub motor. And I guess on downhills you could probably go faster than a 125! (if you have the brakes and the balls)

Hahha tru.

I used to drive 120-130-140...I see how much better km I get at just a steady 100km/h. Try it out, be a calm, steady driver and maybe you'll see for yourself :D - and I don't drive in the GTA, maybe that's a factor too....
