How are others managing to bid or buy Ebay items and get reasonable shipping costs.

I am looking at buying two tank decals that would fit in a medium sized envelope and the shipping cost quote is twice more than the items themselves originating from NY...

Contact the seller, ask for a better shipment quote - maybe they will be interested in doing something for you. Or not.

Under pricing an item and over pricing shipping is common. Seller pays fees on the item, not on shipping.

I've done this and gotten a better shipping quote when I thought it was unreasonable.

The other option is to have it shipped to Buffalo/Niagara Falls USA and pick it up from there. Lots of US sellers will do free or dirt cheap shipping within the US, but holy cow I've seen some doozies as soon as you change your address to Canada.

Obviously ebay caught onto that game. For a while, there were a lot of things listed for pennies with shipping far above MSRP.

I've found there's usually another source beyond ebay, even the same seller through their own website. I bought a corbin seat like that once and saved a fair bit on shipping as the store shipped without using ebay.

Sell item, don’t ship, tell buyer the item was shipped and must have gotten lost in transit.
