Ear plugs

I use ear plugs I purchase at Home Depot for about $25. I find they can be painful after a few 10 hour back-to-back days. I trim the plug lengthwise with scissors to effectively reduce its diameter. After a bit of trial and error I know how much I can trim away and still have them be effective vs. too tight. Carve up a few and see if you can find a diameter that fits your ear OK and still reduces sound. Dirt cheap if it works. If it doesn't then just move on to another solution. I use them for a day or so and then just chuck them.

You can purchase the same type of plugs in a small pack size to try it out

I recommend these. A smaller size is available.

Do these actually block much noise? I have some 3M tri-flange silicone plugs that I use at work going in and out of different factories, but I wouldn't say they really work all that well. They take the edge off enough that I can stand the noise for a while but compared to foamies, they really don't do much.

I just had a pair of custom ones made. $90 per ear. My current pair of custom ear plugs is going on 11 years but are starting to split, so I figured it's time to have new ones made.

The inserts seem to do their job

I have the @Joe Bass specials. They fit smaller than the other disposables I've gotten.

I am curious on those who wear ear plugs and what type/brand.
I have small ears and sometimes struggle with getting the foam ones in. Thanks!
Try the Mac's Pillow Soft silicon plugs. They're great. You stuff them around the ear, but not really into the ear canal.
Make sure you get the white ones - they're the softest and most comfortable.

My gf has very small ears as well, and she rips a plug into 2 pieces to make them more comfortable. 1/2 piece per ear.

They're available at WalMart in the pharmacy area.

I'll try this first since I have foam earplugs. :)
Will check out all other suggestions.

Thanks everyone! (Got to protect the ears!)

These 3M ones are awesome! All I use, I do trim them a bit using a scissor so some more sound from the BT speakers in the helmet can go through.

I actually sleep with these on, never notice them. Soft, and get a few uses out of a pair.

I tried various silicone ones, from cheap to pricey, to moto specific stuff. All hurt with the helmet on/off, and pressure. Foam wins time and time again

I got similar ones. Mine came with three different replaceable filters that provide three different levels of noise protection.

And I use these for sleeping, they are super comfy, but I think they are too quiet for riding:

Every time I get on the bike. I like the soft foamies (ones with flames are my favorite). If you're near barrie sometime, send me a message and I will give you a few different kinds to try. Sucks to buy a whole box and realize that the style wasn't comfortable for you. I've got tasco soft seal 33's and 3m no touch right now.

I use the cheap 3M foamies to sleep and the Earpeace ones to ride.
Earpeace one's do indeed work as advertised and with the medium inserts the wind noise is gone and voices/music sounds clearer.

Use earpiece for most rides and commutes but for prolonged highway, foamies.
the earpiece doesn't cut as much noise as good foamies.
