Dyno run videos from the FREE Dyno Day at DynoTunes, as requested!

Wow, for a guy who knows all this stuff about "real dynos", that statement sure reeks of ignorance..

A statement that says "Now that I don't know about." and "I thought...." doesn't reek of ignorance. It reeks of someone who doesn't know and was asking a question. Although you're entitled to interpret it whichever way Apple tells you to.

And isn't 154 a bit low for a 1000RR. Now that I don't know about. I thought the rwhp numbers were higher.

Nope. Unless it was an 08+ they're plenty optimistic.

You're right, though. Dynos are like races - unless it was the same day on the same dyno, the numbers are just for fun. And frankly, the dyno makes a much better tuning device than it does an indication of performance.

Oh baby I hope the autotune can sort out the low end/slide stops!! I'll probably run at it 50% max trim value for the first while

And we were joking about my bike dipping into the 11's. That's a pretty crazy fuel curve.

Yes, different dyno's will put down different numbers and even with SAE correction, different days will put down different number.

Odd statement to follow up on "My gsxr 600 runs 110hp and 46 ft/lbs on a real dyno. Do yourself a favour Jamie, get real work done on a real dyno. That's if you're serious."

You're the "real dyno" authority here right?

I don't think the numbers are optimistic. I have an 06 with a full akrapovic, a-tech intake, bmc filters, 520 conversion, and power commander with custom map. For comparison, my bike put down 153 hp on a factory pro dyno (sweep test) when it was tuned in 08.

You mentioned none of that. :) This may hurt, though... my stock 2003 GSX-R 1000 turned the Performance Shed's dyno at 154hp with less than 30k on it. But that's the point to me saying that they're mostly for tuning... who knows how the two would compare 10 minutes apart, on the same dyno?

Added a bunch of fuel to the map that day, the bike made a few hp less on top but picked up as much as 12hp (and as little as six) all the way from 2500 RPM to peak. So worth the time...

All the other gixxer's were doing 98 all day so I felt pretty good about my 102 thanks :)

I'll bring her in for a "real" run after my autotune sorts itself out :)

-Jamie M.

I've been to 3 or 4 dyno days over the last few years, those numbers are right in line with what I've seen at all of them.

Good stuff, thanks :) I want to fix the 10.1 AFR cause you can see a dip in the HP when it goes that low. The autotune is ordered and I'm getting my bung installed this week hopefully :)

My AFR targets are already flashed in the PCV, she's just waiting for the autotune to be connected!

Can't wait :D

Too lean. But hey... AutoTune will maybe fix that up. Slightly rich is good for making torque and keeping valves happy.

What's too lean?? 13 for the AFR target?

Yeah, it does hurt a little... My buddy's stock 06 gsxr runs neck and neck with my RR. :(

I'm thinking about doing some motor work, but want to maintain the streetability.

Why don't you enlighten us laymen? You're obviously an expert...

My 1000RR put down 154 hp, so the numbers were accurate.

At first glance I thought you were referring to an S1000RR, whose numbers were supposed to really high. It was only when I re read with my glasses on I figured you're talking CBR1000RR. My apologies for mis reading. 154 sounds like a good number in that case.

And the second bike has one hell of an annoying tail light.

Likely due to the recording device's timing having frames that go in tune with the voltage drop in power provided to the light...or something. Electric lights flicker at different frequencies.

Who cares.. it was dyno'd on a different day, on a different machine, by a different operator. This guy's dyno might be reading 10 or even 20% low for all anybody knows. Thats why its useless to compare numbers unless they were all done on the same day/machine/operator (like this case).

The absolute number is largely meaningless, but as it relates to the other bikes tested it's relevant.

a guy with a new (2009?) gixxer was there that day and was disappointed about his sub 100hp number. But hey, you were there, right?

You have to get a base line done on a real dyno. And by real I mean a static based, calibrated dyno. Then throw your autotune on and then get it dyno'ed again on the same dyno under the same conditions if possible. Like I said, if you're serious. If you just want something to talk about at Timmies then knock yourself out.
Don't waste your time, we have all learned not to pay any attention, he will impress a couple of new riders, bring them into his pony Scarborough ride and that will be the end.

Initially i was disappointed with my results at 108hp (d675) until I heard what the rest of you guys were making. Its simple, this dyno with the sae smoothing doesn't put out high numbers like others. I have read that this type of dyno tends to give you a more realistic number. Seems to me magazines use very generous dynos.

Did you break their dyno? I called them to get some tuning done and their dyno is bust and waiting for parts...or it was a few weeks ago. Have to head to Ottawa now.

Funny you mentioned that.

I posted my Dyno results on 2 VFR forums and had 2 other members reply (with the same bike) posting slightly higher numbers than I, but with identical power curves.

I was expecting less than my 90.5 hp results, and was very happy with the smooth broad powerband and the good A/F ratios.
