Durham Region New Riders!

Yea, sure enough, but if you want organized rides every week with a bunch of great people, you might want to join the group.

Are you saying that the only way to meet a bunch of great people and ride every week is to join a group?

Hey, my name is Matt and I live in Brooklin, 5 mins north of Whitby. Just bought a 2012 CBR 125 and looking for someone or a group of people who want to hit up some food joints or hit the nice country roads out here in Durham!

Hope to hear from other new riders in DURHAM!
Can't wait to hit the roads when this snow dissapears!!

Joining a group is not the only way...but it is by far the easiest for someone who just started...especially when there are sunday morning easy paced rides that start minutes away from where you live

After riding with Rodney and his group for a season/year, I can definitely vouch for him/the group. Also if things play out like last year did, one member Kirby (also here on GTAM) led a number of 'newbie rides' which were more easy paced and definitely welcoming to beginners (as well as the more experienced who just wanted to a nice ride to start their Sunday).

The main fact the group is private (to my understanding) is to better control the number of people who join and never ride (lurkers), and to keep things a little more close-knitt where everyone knows each other to some degree after a ride or two.

As for joining vs just trying to meet people on your own -- it can definitely work both ways, but it is a lot easier when things are posted/coordinated on Facebook, with rides being planned regularly (at least a few each month during the riding season).

Having not joined this group I can vouch that where there may be clubs you can't get into, the roads are always open...

Ride for sight. Motorcycle rallies. Shows. Just go and have fun with your bike, you will meet.people if you just put yourself out there.

I'm just glad to know there will be people who are up for going for a nice ride! I've always owned dirt bikes but it'll be great to finally be on the roads and off the trails.

I go to Haugens almost every Wednesday night for the cruise nights, I take my 79 Camaro Z28 up there (only 10 mins from my place). I guess I will be going there twice a week now lol!

If anyone wants to meet up when the snow is gone, shoot me a text with your name and that you want to go riding/are from GTAM. 9059033764.
