Ducati Service

Quick question, might be looking into a duc, but for those who take it into a dealer for desmo, can you have them JUST do belts and valves and not all the extra **** (like forks, fluids etc etc?)

I believe they like to bundle up a bunch of stuff together under the 'desmo service' and hand you a giant bill, but the rest of that stuff I can just do myself...
Desmo service isn't until 30,000kms now. Is that really a worry for you?

Yes, a I've forgotten to turn the switch off on my USB charger and ended up with a dead battery because of it. Either add a switch, or if you're the type to forget, rewire it to switched power.
That's why I put in a distribution block and have all accessories on switched power.

bike started fine today. Engine light popped on again, and this is what I see when I entered into the Service menu…flashing wrench

CEL and service reminder wrench are usually separate, you normally only get the wrench when it's service time.
Was this running? Do you get any error codes on the dash menu?

Error 3708 usually means
"To clear the error code, affix a FOR SALE sign to bike and place at the curb. Sign must be contrasting color or vehicle body colour. May need to staple $100 bill to sign for best results."

Bike was running, no error codes. Have had engine light come on when voltage was low (today was 13.9V).

Or I’ll just leave it at the condo that @bigpoppa parked at last week and some shady characters could take care of the problem.

On the Scrambler, valves are done under "Desmo A" at 12,000 km intervals, while belts are done under "Desmo B" at 24,000 (or 5 years).
That could be the official wording but I know when mine were done by Giovanni in my garage at 12k km the belts were worn on 1 side ... I think it's a situation where you've already got the valve covers off to check the valves so might as well do the belts while you're there.

Although having said that, if the belts were not worn, he may have said to just leave them.
