I’m convinced the Duc doesn’t want to be sold. Not only did it not start today before a potential buyer showing up (he didn’t), but the ‘Annual Maintenance’ light showed up….

Any way to do the oil change and clear these codes? I’ll do the oil change so not cheating I just want to rid of the light.

The DESMO light is still 2000km away.

A 15min ride charged up the battery and the engine light came off so I assume engine light comes on when battery is low.
 
I think it has the M3C Siemens ecu same as the older monsters?
To do it yourself you’ll need a reliable obd2, 4 pin adapter cable, and some kind of scanner/software.

I have been using peninsula since I got my last two Ducatis and they have been excellent, John is always a big help. Don`t forget Craig. He has always been number one for me. (plus Frekeyguy) Both really nice people. Will be using both of them soon. Nursing a badly broken ankle. Yuck.

I have all that stuff haven't tried it yet though

Check and see if the date and time are set. On my Tiger, every time the battery is disconnected, it throws up the service light until you set the date.

Good call I’ll check that also. IIRC previous owner did an oil change in May of last year so may be time for the ‘Annual Service’.

Whenever I go to buy a bike I always feel the header pipes to see if it's been started before I got there. I want to see how it starts cold not after you've nursed it to life and warmed it up. This is why.

Agree 100%. I do the same also.

I’ll be ripping off the ancillary USB that previous owner installed. There’s a slow drain happening.
 
Of course I'm not saying that I have never fired up a cranky bike before a seller arrived...

Date and time are set properly. No issue with that.

Just be washing the bike with cold water when prospective buyers arrive. Make sure the block and headers are really well rinsed.
 
Quick question, might be looking into a duc, but for those who take it into a dealer for desmo, can you have them JUST do belts and valves and not all the extra **** (like forks, fluids etc etc?)

I believe they like to bundle up a bunch of stuff together under the 'desmo service' and hand you a giant bill, but the rest of that stuff I can just do myself...

My Desmo was just valves and belts and spark plugs on my old Scrambler 800.

The new Monster won't need it for a while still but I can't see that other stuff being a "must-have" from the dealer.

Better like hot-running bikes and toasty thighs if you're thinking of a Ducati.

I don't know about dealers, but you can with Ken.
