No, but they can cause you issues. My last new car had an oil leak from the factory. It was a bloody mess. I took it to the dealer and they spent hours cleaning it up as nobody had touched it. If I had an oil change somewhere else, I am pretty sure they would have blamed that mechanic (or me) as it was a messy and time-consuming job.
