Ducati Diavel

Did anyone else notice the really innovative passenger pegs on the Diavel? This kind of idea must have been used before. But i've never seen it.Very clean design.

The specs are what impresses: 460lbs and 160hp... thats enough to smack the other power cruisers around with ease. Also apparently Ducati worked with Pirelli on that 240mm tire to make a profile that can actually handle as opposed to just being a steam-roller.

I like the styling and I think the bike will be a success. Pricing sounds right too.

This guy gets it. It outrivals the V-Rod and the V-Max in power, in weight, and in price. I saw MCN took one out:

I think it's for all the aging babyboomers who will want some comfier ergos soon, but may not be ready to slow right down to a cruiser. Appeals to the ego as well as the old bones.

Be interesting to see the pricing comparison once it hits North American soil. Harley's are way more expensive in Europe than they are here. No idea how they are pricing the Vmax. I'd be shocked to see it come in at 13k-15k in this market.

Still think it looks fugly for a Ducati, but would be interesting to ride it.

This is what Cycle Canada said back in Nov.

Don't know how accurate it is......

"The Diavel will be available in red or white for $18,995 or for an added $2,000 you can purchase the Diavel Carbon, a lighter carbon fibre trimmed version with Marchesini forged wheels, finished in black or red."

Not interested in it at all but I want to see what it looks like in real life as I haven't seen one yet.

Its the result of when The Ducati Monster and the Streetfighter had a baby

I think you will be very disappointed. It actually looks better in that video than the one I saw at the show.

That pricing puts it considerably higher than a VROD in this market. (New Muscle is ~$16k)

I'm not a huge fan of the look and if I were to upgrade from my monsters it would be the multi I would want.

Having said that...........I think the Diavel will be a big success and sell well. It's not even fair that it's in the sport/cruiser or power/cruiser class. It's really going to put to shame anything else in that class. Although I'm not a cruiser guy, I used to like the idea of a v-max or v-rod. Now I couldn't imagine moving into that class of motorcycle and look at anything else other than the Diavel. Low ride height and power cruiser looks in a package that actually handles, brakes unbelievably well and accelerates faster than anything else in ducati's line-up, never mind other power cruisers.

I do think the exhaust is butt ugly and the tail peice leaves much to be desired IMO, but I could forgive both for the performance.

if I were the cruiser type

Anyone else notice the guy in the video rides with his fingers over the clutch lever?

He is using the engines compression to help his braking into the turns.Doesn't everyone do this?

I gotta try one of these out this year! I hope.

I've seen it on the motorcycle show last December, the rear tire looks impressive, for me it is more of a cruiser than a street fighter. Not my type of bike, yet.

My uncle rides with 2 fingers always on the clutch. His rationale is that he can pull it in faster in the event of an emergency. He gave me some examples that sounded reasonable but I can't remember them...

Time and place for everything. Downtown core, 5 PM traffic, no harm in it. Same intersection at 5 AM, no likely need for it.

Do you actually know how much power the new V-Max makes?

It looks better in person, that being said it's not my 'cup of tea' but it has interested my dad, who may trade in his Ducati Streetfighter for one down the road......

These things are growing on me...

I got to ride a Diavel Carbon today at the Inglis demo day. The power delivery is way different than my 10R in a very silly sort of way. I had it in sport mode and it was a riot. The exhaust note is orgasmic. Make sure it's pointed straight down the road before you get on it, or make sure you can handle a 460lb bike getting sideways and spinning up the 240 rear. With the more upright seating position it really feels like the bike is trying to get away from you with it pinned. Super fun! My hands were actually shaking after riding it.
