Note this review will compare the 2011 Ducati 848 evo with my current bike 2008 Yamaha R6.

To start off, damn what a bike, and damn it rattles (Has that sort of HD rattle).

Riding Position:

The seat is high, but it is much lower then the tank, the tank itself is narrow which adds great lean control, and great knee grip. It also is amazingly steady both on high and low speeds and nicely balanced. The ergonomics are also great, much better then the R6 which has the most aggressive ergonomics of any bikes Ive ridden so far. The bike also has amazing handling and flicks into corners with ease, its very confidence inspiring.

Performance:

Because the bike packs 848 cc v-twin engine it has best of both worlds, great horsepower numbers and amazing torque. Unlike the R6 where you have to keep the revs at 10k for peak performance, the 848 matches it easily at 5-6k, the engine is extremely smooth, with steady power delivery, you practically never have to downshift in order to get to that holly grail of power. Another great thing on the bike is its brakes, long story short they are amazing. In comparison the R6 breaks feel outdated, under extreme breaking feels like im trying to stop 18wheeler that is going at million miles per hour, the 848 though feels like stopping a feather... Once again the breaks are simply astonishing. Same goes for the Forks, Showa are doing what they should do.

Conclusion:

For those deciding to upgrade from a 600cc to a 1000cc and are considering a ducati, the 848 evo will be more then enough. It never lacks in power, the brakes are amazing, crazy amount of torque.

Verdict: 5/5 Must buy, and with it you get the special feeling of owning a Ducati, and shes a jaw dropper every time you open the garage...

If anyone got any questions feel free to ask.

Update:

Slideshow created with Amoveo theme name "Memories" Damn I miss the bike!

Different strokes for different folks I guess, I rode the regular 848 and hated everything about it besides how it looks and the extra attention it gets over a jap bike...For the price it just doesnt do it for me, Id rather have 2 jap bikes

Say it with me: "BRAKES"

I can understand how someone would be incredibly impressed by an 848 upgrading from an R6... no question about it.

You can get the 848 Evo black in US for 13k, which is a bargain compared to Cad prices, although not as cheap as Jap bikes, the only negative that I have about the bike that it sucks for 2up, my gf was complaining that due to the narrow tank she cant hold on to it, and also the rear sit is far higher then mine, she was afraid of flying over me if Id break...

Lol fixed it. I did also ride both cbr1000rr and the S1000rr, to me the 848 evo is a lot like the fireblade, the bmw didn't impress me though...

Obviously you're more of a twin kinda guy then. And for what its worth, the CBR has the most midrange power out of any of the I4 literbikes (BMW included) so that's why it impressed you more. The BMW to me didn't feel like anything special until 10k+ RPMs and by that time you're ready to lose your licence, so it didn't make sense as a street bike.

The guy whos I rode was an 08 he bought it in Toronto for $18,000.....US pricing is nice but I personally dont have time or paitence for over the boarder bike buying...So I only consider real world pricing, which for me is here in Ontario or even just the GTA.

I had my cousin's 848 for a month, and man I loved it. That was going to be my bike! But then I called my insurance company. 220$ a month was just too much. Because of the price, I picked up a 08 gsxr 1000. My gsxr 1000 was 2000$ cheaper and it is fast. It has a lot modified to it, and the torque is crazy! Now, I don't regret a thing! Everything considered, including price, I would choose a 08 gsxr 1000 over a 848 any day.

You may not have to keep it up at 10k to feel the v-twin fun but you also run out of the power band extremely quick with such low revs over all. Couple that with constant clutch feathering in the city and the fun wears off quick!

An inline 600R is civil at low rpm in the city and gets into the power band at 70kph in first gear.....a much much better rev match for city or rural riding. And you get more usable power band.

If you want to band about town in a fun v-twin (that you can afford)....Suzuki SV650s hands down. If you wanna pose like you paid upwards of $30 for a big boy Duc...get an 848.

But they are pretty in white though!

If you want to pay 30K you can buy my 1198 (it's white and pretty) and I can get a pair of 848's
The price spread is not that big for a premium product only a couple of thousand more than a current Jap 600 and it is a better bike in town IMHO, better low end torque and easier to ride.

I want 848 EVO as my track bike very badly... waiting for someone to drop one "lightly" ...

Or default on a payment, or get married.

I'm failing to understand how this is a good match. If it enters the powerband once you hit 70 kph, that means that for city riding you're spending the whole distance either going faster than the speed limit or under the power band. How is that good? Maybe I'm missing something here?

Bingo ^

He says it like its a good thing, but in reality it makes for a crappy street bike. If I have to crack it down to 1st just to get some power at 70kmh then its largely useless to me. 600cc supersports are lousy street rides.. they're completely gutless at city speeds.

Dear HA3AP,

I hate you. Not only have you now made me want an 848 more than ever before, you've also confirmed that this is indeed my dream bike. Waiting 3 more years until im 25 is going to be a million times harder now.

I hope you're happy!

Sincerely,
