DST

106 years and we are still tied to DST despite Ontario passing a bill to scrap this bi-yearly time change.
If any of you gents have worked behind the curtains IT, then you know what a PITA this exercise is, more so if the system pumps data to various companies abroad.

Have to hook up my bike to an OBD device to change the time. On the car, it is scrolling through the menu and being able to find the setting.

I know someone that has a collection of 30 or so wrist watches and his coming Sunday morning is busy

According to medical science, the "spring forward" has greater risk to health than the "fall back", go figure.

Most IT has built in functions now to deal with DST. The pain in the *** for me, was the short notice GST change, and before that, Y2K.

I like very late evenings that come with DLS . I have evening activities that require daylight .
My wife HATES driving to work in the dark , doing a 12hr shift and then home for what sunshine is left .
She would like it scraped .

I grew up on a farm and realize why it was implemented. But modern farming have tractors with headlights. And cows done care .

I have never fully grasped the benefit, and I don't think Canada will ever scrap it unless the US does.

I also thought we'd never legalize weed in my lifetime, but here we are!
We should start a DST convoy or something.

This is the time of year my internal clock goes back to normal.
I thought DST was here to help farmers.
Either way stay off the road Monday, there will be a lot of sleepy heads... :ROFLMAO:

According to legislation were just waiting for NY & Quebec to abandon it.
I am glad they passed something but I think that clause was stupid. If we picked a path, others would follow. Even if the state/province didnt officially follow, businesses where it mattered could (for instance feds in gatineau could just shift work hours to align with ottawa work hours).

Even in Australia they still fight about it....here in Cairns there is almost no day length change as it's in the tropics. I do miss those long June riding days.

In 1918, the Canadian government formally introduced Daylight Saving Time as a way to increase production during wartime. With the end of the First World War, the federal government ceased Daylight Saving Time, but resumed the practice during the Second World War.

Personally I would prefer to have dark in the mornings, and longer evenings all year long.

Especially since I drive East in the morning, so prefer not to have the blinding light the entire route.

Just when I was thinking "hey! I can see natural sunlight at 6am!"...it goes back to pitch black.

Daylight savings is actually retarded. Feels like one of those things that might've been a good idea at the time, then fell into uselessness, but some dingdong argues for the sake of arguing and everyone gets ******.

See, daylight savings = grumpy.
