Lol ahh well. thanks for the support guys, I think I will apply a bandaid sticker over the damage, like mentioned, it gives it some character
So.. I had my bike parked in the garage, and I was moving things around and... an over hanging ladder fell on my bike, the corner of the gas tank got a bit dinged up,
any suggestions on how to tackle this? do I...
Replace the tank?
bring it to a body shop?
wrap vinyl over the whole tank?
Try to touch it up with some touch up paint?
The tank suffered from minor dent, and the paint suffered a few chips.
Or sell it and get a new bike? Lol
i had this problem too, but happened to my cruiser. I too share your OCD on keeping my bikes pristine.
from the pic i think if you can be VERY careful applying some touch up paint.... see how that turns out, then decide on
sticker option.
I went the touch up paint route, my bike is black. i was the only one who could see it.
however, i did end up changing the tank, 2 years later... lol
but since it happened to your SS, the tank plastics/cover is an interesting option if you can find one for your R6
When I was a kid (10-13) my dad had a zx9, I forget why but it he had just painted it. We were putting our Xmas tree up in the loft when the ladder retracted and fell on the tank. I looked my mom in the eye and said "I'm stuck up here, you tell him." Pretty sure he shed a tear that day.
Body filled it and painted again you could never tell.
It's not black. It's the charcoal edition.Black R6 is not an uncommon bike. Is it not possible to find a used, but good tank for a couple hundred bucks? If you're OCDish, then I'll save you the suspense and tell you now, you will never get it to look perfect. Rather than getting it fixed properly (filled/pdr, and painted), buy a tank on ebay/forum and sell yours for some cash.

Id touch up paint it just so it doesn't rust. There's no tank covers for the r6. But they do have something called tank sliders that will cover that entire area up. I believe they are called ETI tank sliders. Plus it gives extra protection so you bike doesn't catch fire in a crash. Or failing all those options pm Carboncat and he can repair and paint it for you.
If you get a sticker, make sure it's labelled as a "speed" sticker.
You want one that gives your bike a velocity boost.
Make sure you inspect the ladder for damage before using it again.
