I'm still looking to cut ties with rogers. Teksavvy quoted me a plan with a speed of 30 download and 5 upload. These figures mean nothing to me.
Is that speed enough to watch TV over the net w/o having to wait for buffering? Is it still fast enough if someone is surfing the net at the same time?
CSR says yes it is. What says the real world.

It's fast enough.

I was under the impression the CRTC mandated a 50 down minimum.

*EDIT*

Wordplay. They're striving for 50 down in every home.

As others said, that's fine. Multiple 1080p stream no problem. 4k maybe one stream at a time.but you dont seem like a 4k kind of guy. Outside of urban centers 30 is often the best you can hope for. Many people are stuck at 5 and that sucks. Uploading videos at 5 requires patience but will eventually get done. 10 up is the best you get for most people in the country.

I was excited that we were getting fibre to the home in our area but they are doing 50 max. Boo. Better than I have now but I was hoping for 1000.

Your specific streaming services will usually have a bandwidth recommendation for a given resolution.

E.g. Netflix says 5mbps for 1080p, 15mbps for 4K Internet connection speed recommendations

Amazon Prime Video recommends pretty much the same

So by that measure 30mbps would be plenty

F-n GTAM land barons.

Always dissing the KLR riders and renters.
He's more a look out the window and enjoy nature kind of guy than a live in the concrete world and spend thousands so you can more clearly see other people enjoying nature.

FWIW, I think he has the coolest klr I have seen.

Thanks Guys. I knew the big foreheads on this site would steer me straight.

I'm not sure what a "4K kind of guy" is. If it means I don't game you're right. I do sometimes look out a window at "nature". AND I do own the coolest klr I have ever seen.

And since this bunch is so clever can anyone say for certain if my rotary dial phones will ring when connected to VOIP?
Someone here mentioned it won't have the power for the mechanical ringers. The TS guy couldn't give me a straight answer.

Without their loud clanging ring these phones lose much of their appeal.

Uh huh.

We all know what you *really* meant...

Owns real estate in the GTA. Thinks he's so much better than everyone else...

I have 25 mbps and its more than adequate for HD streaming, and I sincerely doubt a VOIP device will power a rotary dial phone properly especially when its ringing.

Check start.ca as a comparison. You can key in your address on their website and see what/if service is available and the pricing. Their head office is down in London.

Brb gonna play some Zelda.

Woah, slow your roll, FutureBoy. That's too hi-tek for me.

I'm still trying to get through Zork.

You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.

Waiting for the resident GTAM Land Baron to come in and diss my choice of videos games with a lo-key put-down...
