disappointing, but i prefer this to the JT spin.

with the way they were doing anything to avoid voting on WE related stuff at committee who could believe anything but there's a pile of **** there.

IMO Ford's TSN turning point is how he dealt with Sam Oosterhoff. He basically did nothing and it continues to fallout. If he through the book at the guy (insisted he, his family--everyone on the photo--and the venue be fined and send Oosterhoff to the backbench with the associated pay cut) he can take the stance of being tough on COVIDidiots (I would not have kicked him out of caucus BTW). He could refer back to it on how people need to do the right thing and how he will stand up and he will see people take responsibility or pay the price.... Instead, by doing nothing, he sent the strong message that he has no backbone.

That message is clear to his people and clear to the COVIDiots. While this goes all the way back to other attending weddings etc. I really think that was his opportunity to show he had the stones to do the job. Instead we get a lot of do what I say not what my people do.

He could do it now with the FM, that is a much bigger loss than Oosterhoff and a bigger cost to the PCs. He should have made an example of the child MPP.

The hypocrisy is small potatoes compared to the slow vaccine rollout. Why haven't we run out of vaccines yet? Because we're taking our Fing time giving them out even though we've had 9 months to prepare. It's a joke.

Yeah, they released that they have administered 19,000 but last I heard there were 76,000 doses on the ground in Ontario. We should be really close to 38,000 administered right now. The question of whether to hold enough to give the first batch a second shot or plow ahead and get the second shots from future shipments is beyond my pay grade. Getting at least half of the ones you have out of the fridge and into arms seems like a no-brainer.

We hit 3000 cases today. Ford had earned brownie points at the beginning of pandemic, acted like a true leader should have. But lately his and his cabinet's gaffes have been pissing me off. This whole finance minister travel fiasco is a disgrace, shows his weaknesses as a premier.

Full disclaimer- I am a conservative supporter.

Btw, just came back from Brampton for a takeout. Nothing feels like province is in a lockdown , 401 is packed, Brampton roads are packed, every store seems to be open.

All the math I've read is give the initial supply in single doses and then give the next round of shots when you get the second shipment....ie 76,000 people get 50% immunity immediately. Then a month later we give them the second shot....instead we're giving out 38,000 shots now and sitting on 38,000 shots for 30 days. I would have to know the expected second shipment date. If it is outside of a month then we're f'ed anyway.

He really needs to get serious, stop the "folks" routine song and dance in front of the camera, and channel a little bit of Rob Fords old fire and brimstone routine and let some heads roll.

You can’t have family over but I can. You can’t go on a holiday but I can. Immediately the vaccines will be given out. But just after this little break for the holidays. Oops sorry that was a poor decision and I take full responsibility for it. Oh sorry I didn’t know he was gone, but actually I did know and did nothing about it. Its pure ******** on these excuses.

I deal with covid issues and related stuff all day for work now, and reading nonsense like this is pretty frustrating.

I have thought for the most part Doug’s doing a good job. He takes the questions, trusts the doctors, asks difficult things of the public and seems to display genuine empathy. I also understand that big organizations sometimes take a while to get some tasks rolling and mistakes do get made, especially related to communication breakdowns - even moreso when science and doctors have varied perspectives on how to handle certain issues.

But get your fuckin house in order, cuz I would be fired for this **** and too many people are done with failure and double standards from our leaders. I’ve heard the same excuses for these same types of transgressions within this provincial government I must have cauliflower ears from this by now. FML

I dont know why people are surprised, hes a POLITICIAN no matter how much you like his cheesecake(or dope back in the day).

Every decision is looked at politically, "how will this affect my re-election" or "what will the donors think of this?"
(this is obviously the wrong kind of thinking in emergency situations)

this is why we're in situation we're at right now and new zealand is back to normal

And that is why he should have hammered Oosterhoff and why he should have dropped a grenade on Philips weeks ago. Calling out party members for their abhorrent behavior would get him a lot more votes than it lost him. I can't comment on donor implications.

Was doing some driving around today and frankly it didn’t look like any type of lockdown in the Dundas and Winston Churchill area. There were loads of cars in every parking lot....winners!? Wtf. Why were their doors open!?

this is so frustrating. We are ‘locked down’ but the people making these rules seem to be not giving any type of **** about following them themselves. Super frustrating and I can see why people are getting ******. If the politicians don’t give a ****, why should we? (I know the answer to the question but I’m sure you get the point).

everything in life is a choice, short term pain and long term gain, or vice versa.

We could have been back to normal now, but douggie kept dragging his feet, taking more half measures etc

It aint much of a lockdown when I can go to timmies for coffee, most businesses are still open, and schools are too

and schools are too
Not quite. Daycares are open. All schools are closed next week (they were supposed to be open according to normal schedule). High schools are closed for most of January.

The rest of your post I completely agree with.

they've been open forever, christmas time notwithstanding

The fake lockdowns have let this grow last time they were just starting to work they decided it was time to open every thing again. This time every factory is open. We will need some leadership before the end of January as cases are just going to keep rising.

at this point they've just given up tbh, thankfully right around the time the vaccines have come out

The latest I've heard is that over 80, health care and LTC will be done by the end of march. That is a long time away. Especially if much of the population says F it and rides the exponential curve.
