Looking for an unbiased opinion, and figured my GTAM peps might be a good market sampling of the effectiveness of my advertising dollars..

When you get one of these multi add door hangers on your door.. do you read them?

I barely give them a second look. It's annoying just like any other form a junkmail. More crap to clog my garbage and recycling bin.

almost as bad as when they leave ad's under you windshield wiper blades.

I read them, if there's something I'm interested in, great. If not, in the recycling it shall go.

I check them to get the name, and make a mental note not to shop there. Then I pitch it. I hate door hangers. I bunch them together with unaddressed mailers and telemarketers.

Oh, and I would have picked "chase down the guy/girl..." But let's face it. The only thing I chase down the street is the ice cream truck.

i have large signs posted asking for no advertising etc. the rare time i do get them, i call the ditributor, be very nice, and when i get on the phone with a manager, i ream the **** out of them.

No, they throw me into a screaming rage.

Amazing, your poll accomodates me!

The "unconventional" advertising that bothers me the least is stuff that has some kind of secondary use, e.g. fridge magnets.

I don't do ANY shopping at my front door,(girl guide cookies exempt) anyone collecting or soliciting is sent packing.I also keep a black PD13 t-shirt with a big satanic face on it handy for the Jehova's.They don't stay long!

If it isn't from Purolator, FedEx, UPS, etc. then it gets tossed down the stairs into the recycle bin, with barely a glance.

Interesting.. all but one of the comments so far are completely opposed, but the poll is showing over 25% read them.

If that holds out of 10,000 that's 2,500 people who would see my add.. that's not bad.

And that's not taking in account the folks who just think it's cool to say they'd throw it out on the internetz but would actually take a look if a coupon or something caught their eye..

Most people I know probably WOULD chase down whoever left it on their door. I'd think about it, but in the end would probably throw it out and as someone above said, make a mental note not to shop at the advertising businesses. Almost as bad as telemarketers (although I love to mess with them).

I glance at them and if they don't catch my eye with something of interest they go in the recycle bin.
The samples you show have numerous coupons and come-ons. I wouldn't give the time needed to look at each advertizer on the list. The more you put on a card the less I will read.
The problem with 99% of consumer products is that they are me-too and people don't have the time to examine what you think is important. I will not give you 10 seconds of my life.

Sometimes your local municipality uses this form of communication to let the local residents aware of something happening in the neighbourhood. For example future construction work that would shut off the water at a specific time.

We get that from the local paper.

Yeah but it's easy to tell right away if it's an ad or a notice.

And if you print 10,000,000, that's 2.5 million people that'll see your ad... Typical spammer (lack of) thinking...

I leave a recycle bin by the front door just for ads like yours. The spam that comes in the mail and that comes via my front door/mailbox doesn't make it much past the entrance.
