donor card

Just to clarify. Does your family still have the final say if you are a registered donor?
they can not harvest an organ from a cadaver. i don't know for sure, but if the card is signed and its the wishes of the person i would hope the family would go through with it.

Yes
It is the Trillium Gift of Life Network's practice to reaffirm an individual's consent to donate with the family. In almost all cases, families honour and respect their loved ones' donation decision if they have evidence that it's what they wanted. Therefore, it's important to register your consent to donate so that your family can be advised of your decision.

The donor card is pretty useless. If you actually want to be a donor, register a https://beadonor.ca/. It takes 30 seconds or less.

My dad is alive because of an organ transplant and numerous blood transfusion, so I am definitely a supporter of it.

well that's silly, I always thought you register through a network first and then receive a card because of it. thanks for clearing that up .

No questions asked. It's a pretty personal choice no?

Like Cat13, I'm also registered with OneMatch...
.

Yeah but my mom made me. She deserves a say, at least!

May soubd weird but i wish i could could chose to offer only for kids first.
Last time i was at the hospital i almost punched out a who had a spraind anckle. there was a 3 year old kid with his whole arm swollen and crying that was 3rd in line. i was second. said to the guy lets let the kid go first, the bull shoot that came out of his mouth needed a slap. "iv waited 2 hours alread", your a man, man up.

what a punk

I willing to donate one of my organs, but I cant help but wonder, what if I donate an organ to a really selfish & evil guy? Does that mean I perpetuate an arsehole's life?? I feel disgusted thinking one of my organs inside a wanker.

But I do want to donate at least an organ. I won't need it anyway.

I'm registered as a donor, though chances of them using anything are small. Family is okay with it, I think they are mostly donors as well. Probably should have that conversation again, now that I think about it...

Yes that's exactly how it works, if you get an eye transplant from a pervert you will frequent nudey bars and feel compelled to sit in that front row. Thats how it works.

Its funny u mentioned that but I read an article where recipients of transplanted organs testifies that it feels like if they knew the donor like a brother. Similar effects like a twin.

Plus didn't u watch Final Destination?? What if it was his time to "go" and you messed with the Grim Reaper's schtick, he's gonna be ****** off

Not a donor. The harvesting team seems a little to quick to call you dead. As well you may be keep alive while still suffering, not my way out ,thanks. BTW, just something to think about. If you are a match for a V.I.P. you may not get an option for live saving procedures. Just my 2 cents as a hospital worker.

Not the first time I hear that. I heard it before from people in the medical field. Very sketchy.

That's one of the reason I said donors should have first dibs.

Interesting. Thanks. I was able to verify that I am already a donor. Took the opportunity to update my preferences. I was given the following options (I chose Option 2 and Option 1):

1. I consent to help save lives by becoming an organ and tissue donor for:
Transplant only
Transplant/organ and tissue research

2. I wish to donate:

Kidneys
Eyes
Liver
Skin
Heart
Lungs
Bone

I'm registered, and my family knows my intentions. Being a living donor already, I don't think they'll deny my wish. I'm fairly confident if my organs can be harvested they will be used. All except a kidney, it's already gone.
