Does this bother anyone as much as it bothers me?

Answer here:
The bottles are designed to be poured the other way to allow it to be tilted more before the oil comes out, which you can also see in the video.

Probably could have screwed the funnel onto the jug

I'd say 90% of people out there don't realize that you're supposed to pour with the bottle the other way around, and how much better that works from the "not spilling a quarter of the bottle all over the place" aspect lol.

I showed this to my daughter last summer when we were adding oil to her car one day and it was one of those "Well DUH why didn't I know this before!" type things for her.

I use a funnel so it doesn't matter to me.

I try to avoid funnels whenever possible - they seem to attract gunk while sitting so I always end up having to wipe them down and force some paper towel through them before using in order to not feel like the oil I'm pouring isn't carrying all that crud right into the engine.

And then when you're done they drip for hours.

Plastic bag.

I use something like this for when I only need a litre or two. Lid snaps over funnel to keep it clean between uses. Measure into funnel, put hose in fill port, open valve at base of funnel. If you don't want drips, put the lid on the bottom of the hose when you're done. It is annoying if you need to do something like a car with 5 litres so I don't use it for that. For cars I often roll paper into a cone to make a funnel and then throw the paper out after.

There needs to be a big bold pictogram on the bottles. I technically know this is how the bottles are supposed to work but I use them upside down every single time

The jug is half empty. If you're just topping up from a half empty container upside down is moot.

No this picture does not bother me at all.

Actually, the emptier a container designed like this gets, the better the “right side up” pouring method works. You can get that container tipped over 90° before oil even starts to flow, so no funnel even needed in most cases.
