Without Collision: If you are at fault you fix it out of your pocket. If you are not at fault your insurance will repair replace (market value) and you will not pay any deductible..
With collision coverage: If you are at fault you will pay deductible and your insurer will pay to fix or replace (market value). If you are not at fault your insurer will pay to fix or replace (market value) and you will not pay deductible.
The other party's insurance does not pay your claim this is no fault insurance in Ontario all monies will come from your insurer not theirs!
Not 100% accurate. If the other driver is at fault, yes INITIALLY your insurer will pay for your repairs, (If you have collision), then your insurer, recovers their costs from the "at fault" parties insurer.
The term "no fault" is somewhat misleading. Fault is determined by the FDR. If the other party is deemed 100% at fault, then their insurer will pay the costs including the deductible. Happened when my cage was reared, (she actually totalled 5 cages including the vehicle insurer and registered to her husbands company because her history was so bad..lol Her, (or in this case her husbands company insurer covered everyone's costs including deductibles). Theses costs were initially paid by my insurer and they recovered cost from the other insurer. Just we, (as the client) don't have to deal with it. Under the OLD system, (pre no fault). one insurer would have to "sue" the other to recover costs, now streamlined, with the FDR.
