Dodged a $400 bullet.

I never got let off (not counting one time where I obeyed the letter of the law but he was considering getting creative with his ticketing).. White, polite, cooperative. I take them all to court anyway, so convictions are a little hard to come by

Difference is his record is clean and mine's not.

I know this is crazy, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that perhaps the above quoted line is why you're routinely crucified (which in turn has nothing to do with your ethnicity).

Nah, just kidding. We whiteys want to stick it to non-whiteys (oddly enough, I'm always trying to stick it in everyone...

Got stopped twice at less than 200 m from my house for expired license plate (less than 2 weeks..) couldnt get an appt at my mechanic for e-test + get time to get to the MTO office.

Got ticketed both times, even though i explained i work hours that dont work with the MTO office and im waiting for an appt at my mechanic's. Wouldnt listen.
Fought both at same time, saved me 220$ in tickets :)

Speed ticket-wise i havent been lucky, i dont have boobs or vag and dont know how to sweet talk those officers.
Im humble and admit my mistake and apologize and all (tail between the legs kinda thing) and i dont come up with stupid reasons because there arent good reasons to speed on public roads..i guess lol
I've gotten one who reduced the charge/speed ENORMOUSLY though and that was without asking ahha
Saved my life
EDIT) HAHAHA AND IM NOT WHITE
oh wow this is gonna derail

I have done this with about 75% success. I am polite to the officer. Find out what the ticket is. I offer to donate the amount of the ticket to any charity the officer names. It usually gets a chuckle and then the officer shrugs and says sure. (AND yes I always pay!!!) The only time it has not worked the officer gave me a no insurance ticket rather than a moving violation I deserved. Not going to affect insurance.

I got nailed for 42 over yesterday at the forks. Was polite with the officer, shut the bike off, took helmet off etc..... On top of the $317 ticket, he also gave me a $110 ticket for "excessive noise" Bastard
... sorry to hear about such a unpleasant surprise expense.

I'll never forget the day the copper let me off after ripping through a stop sign and doing atleast a 100 kph or more in a residential area...
The reason I gave him for "flying" by was I was late getting to a group ride...I think my cool friendly demeanor and full leathers impressed him, it makes you seem more serious and responsible rather than a stupid squid.
He just checked my insurance slip and had me on my way. Told me to tell all my buddies to stop for the police...

amazing.

I better watch out. I drive this road daily. Seen speed traps on it a few times though.

The $400 fine doesn't scare me. Hell, I'd pay $800 if it meant no insurance hike. But a hike on 3 vehicles worth of insurance would hurt quite a bit.

There's your first mistake. Admit nothing.

Better check with your insurance company, most of them charge you for it now just like it was a speeding ticket (at least State Farm does!).

That's why you fight. And even if this one won't cost ya if you get convicted, you'll sure be crying when the next one comes around!

I got pulled over once. For doing 170km/hr in Virginia.

I guess the cop let me off because I was on vacation, and it was night (almost no other vehicles around.) And I was nice to him. And all that paperwork would take up so much time.

I like to think it was because of my awesome excuse though: Told him I didn't know the miles to km conversion, and my speedo is in km only. Told him my friend told me to just multiply for 2 to find the speed limit (which would of actually been 140, not 170) and he didn't know the conversions either.

But that's probably not why.

OH but I did get to tell my friends mom that I told a cop that excuse (asked what I would say if I got pulled over; when I mentioned I was driving over the speed limit. About 2 days before it happened) She chuckled and though I wasn't being serious.

There's your first mistake. Admit nothing.

I admitted I did something that may have been illegal. Dodged a "stunt driving charge" yesterday. Waiting at a red in my car driving westbound on College St. at the Grace St. intersection. It's a wide intersection so I got the jump on opposite traffic and made a left turn going southbound on Grace. Then a cop car starts tailing me so I make another left at a stop sign to see if he would follow. Yes, I see the flashing lights and pull over. Cop asked me why I think he pulled me over so I mentioned the left turn I made. I said I had plenty of time and room and I didn't speed through the turn so I thought it was a legal left. Turns out it wasn't, you can't jump the green turning left if there is oncoming traffic regardless of circumstances. Cop gave me a warning and said my turn qualifies for stunt driving and let me go. Personally, I think improper turn is more applicable.

Except that they specifically described that very action, in the definitions of 'racing.' Driving in this way is one of my pet peeves and I think people who do it deserve to be charged, but not under under HTA 172.

iv. making a left turn where,

(A) the driver is stopped at an intersection controlled by a traffic control signal system in response to a circular red indication;

(B) at least one vehicle facing the opposite direction is similarly stopped in response to a circular red indication; and

(C) the driver executes the left turn immediately before or after the system shows only a circular green indication in both directions and in a manner that indicates an intention to complete or attempt to complete the left turn before the vehicle facing the opposite direction is able to proceed straight through the intersection in response to the circular green indication facing that vehicle. O. Reg. 455/07, s. 3.

On a saturday morning I was caught red-handed driving while talking on my cellphone, to my horror I had left my wallet with my insurance slip and licence at home (was driving my wife's car). Long story short he LET ME GO without giving me a ticket. It was a York Region cop in an SUV at Highway 7 and Leslie.

As a motorcyclist I would think you would be one that does not talk on a cell phone while driving! We all know better as it pisses us off when we a riding and see cagers on their phones.
