Do you ride aggressively against the cagers or do you shy away?

When you see them on their, phones (idiots), doing personal grooming (hello!), crossing the centre line as they approach you (what are you on?), wanting to share your lane (#but i don't even know you), blowing through a red (in a hurry???), etc.... how do you react, and if you take evasive action that goes against the highway act are you really @ fault. Staying alive should trump all, I think????

I GTFO of there at the earliest opportunity.

Bike will lose every single time. If I can I slow down, get out of their way, and get as much distance as I can.

Sometimes the answer is booking it out of there moving forward.

Depends on the situation.

Giving an example, a friend of a friend was coming home from a long day at work, they were on a side street and came to a stop sign behind a cager. The street they had to cross was busy but not overly so. The cager wanted to go straight, as did the mc. A space came in traffic and the cager did not take it, then another, then another, the mc thought what is this person waiting for an invitation. At this point on the next opening the mc went around the cager and continued on mc's way. The move was done without incident, but was a violation of the HTA. Who knows how much longer that cager sat there. This could be construed as an aggressive response to a cager

Ok 🤷‍♂️

You might be right. You might want to get even. You might lash out against the cager.

And you might end up dead.

A motorcycle loses...every....single.....time.

I've been riding a long time. Cars have done stupid things around me. Ignorant things around me. At worse, I shake my head a little, at best, nothing at all (minus a few choice words in my head), and then drop a gear and disappear to get some distance between me and the dbag as quick as possible. I have zero interest in trying to prove anything.

If I am not mistaken it is taught during motorcycle training to maintain a "Safety Bubble" around you (the rider) at all times possible. This is what I do no matter what form of travel I use. I've seen people on motorcycles, in car and trucks all do foolish things as I am sure they have seen me do the same. As many others have pointed out, stay clear and stay safe no matter if you are walking, riding or driving.. Also "Cagers".... :(

Yeah, cagers - people that get into their vehicles and forget that there are vulnerable people out there with them:sleep:

stop being mad. It's no good for your health.

Exactly.

I've been driving semis for almost 30 years now. If you don't do exactly this you'd go insane in this job. If I had a dollar for every time someone in a 4 wheeler did something stupid around me during my career, I'd have retired a few years ago.

But I just shake your head, take a deep breath, and move on. And maintain my nice squeaky clean driving record. Anything else, including getting mad, is simply not only not worth it, but will often just lead to bad things happening.

While on a motorcycle if you look around you at pretty much any red light you will see one or multiple on their phone. If their window is down it's fun to put your visor up, get a little closer to them and scream at the top of your lungs GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!. tends to make them jump in their seat.

Engagement is the first step in the path of road rage.
If that cager gets their panties in a bunch over your actions and then decides to pace you and drive aggressively around you to intimidate you because they think you're a dbag, and you don't have an escape path (or the skills, or a big enough bike, or whatever) to escape that, you've placed your own life in jeopardy over the situation.

Ignore it. Stay in your own space. Ride on to live another day. That isn't your issue to manage, especially while operating a vulnerable vehicle.

I know what the term implies. But it is this sort of attitude that can lead you right into trouble... You are making a very broad assumption...

When I had the Wing with air horns they would get a blast as I rolled by. Beyond that I just steer clear.

I have bikers overtake me.(Ducati Diavel) Dodging between cars to get 2, 3 cars ahead of me. I am totally fine with that. They are my radar lookout.
No peer pressure here.

Always said, "You can always be right, perhaps even dead right.
