Do you have a Spring ride tradition?

Perhaps its too early or I should get myself a winter hobby but I've been thinking about the feeling of that first ride of Spring.

It occurred to me that my first ride has become sort of a tradition and I wondered if anyone else does the same thing? Every year I fire up the bike on a Saturday ride over to GP Bikes .. then head up to Port Perry.. then Omemee and circle back home on some of my favorite side roads. I have done this warm up ride every year for the past 5 or so .. I'm not superstitious but I've had some great seasons on the bike so I plan to do this again this year..

Anyone else have a similar tradition?

My first ride is usually up to barrie from hamilton to have a coffee with my Dad, while shooting the **** about the winter mods and then taking the long way home. I like to get the bike out early to mid March, maybe wishful thinking this year...

I'm not sure if my spring ride tradition is completely similar as I have never been to Omemee but the circling back on some favorite side roads sure rings a bell.

Thanks for the replies.

I wish my first ride could be to visit with my Dad that would be really cool. Mine passed away a couple of years ago but I do certainly think about him often I ride. Trying to squeeze into my riding gear is a given... It must be they way I store it because every year it shrinks a little more...

I was not actually looking to see if anyone shared the same route as me but rather if others always do the exact same thing year after year to get the season started.

I gotta assume most of us end the same.... ride to the gas station...fill with gas and stabil and ride home freezing.

My first ride is usually along the Lakeshore Dr. from Sibbalds Point, through Sutton, to Keswick. Wherever I ride, I enjoy seeing snow banks along the sides of the road.

Never too early to start thinking about next riding season! I don't really have a tradition... haven't been riding long enough to really establish one but I do tend to head out to GP either on the first or second ride. I've got a store credit with them right now so it's a good bet I'll be riding over there soon as it's sane enough to do so.

Will be my virgin spring ride this year..... I just got my first bike and my license in September of last....only got a few months of riding in before the snow came but I was still out there in December!! :D Can't wait to get back out again this year, doing a complete top-end rebuild on my FZ too...she's gonna rip! :D

I didn't have a group to ride with till last season. I'm thinking it's gonna be buritoy boyz then fun on lawerence.

My itch is growing though. Sadly I have to change tires and stuff first thing in the season :'(

Got my first bike last year along with my M2. I'm hoping for the next bike show the weather is good enough to ride down for that show! I'm praying to you little baby Jesus that you make the weather good enough this year for me to ride down.

I was riding last year in late March and that was played a factor in a little shrink dink the odd day.

But I like your idea of having a Spring time tradition and I think I'll have to sit down and figure out my own.

A couple of years running we had warm weather early, so we took an Easter long weekend ride to kick off the season. It was dubbed the Ski Hill Ride because we basically visited several ski hills, doing a giant loop around Lake Ontario. First up to Calabogie Peaks, over to Tremblant, then down to Whiteface in Lake Placid, over to Holiday Valley in Ellicotville, and then back.

It was funny taking pictures of our bikes in front of the hills with people still skiing on them, getting their last runs of the season.

Routine is same as any other day my neighbors must think I am nuts but who cares eat your heart out.... a power wheelie in first gear as soon as the tires hit the road coming out the driveway, the neighbors hear it warming up and tend to hang around to watch the show :D

can i join that tradition.

The only tradition I have for my first ride of the season is trying like hell to avoid all the sand still on the roads.

On the first decent Saturday when the snow is officially done I ride down to Oakville and pull the tarps off the boats, stand on the balcony at the boat club and survey the harbor and try not to have a cold beer because I still need to ride home.
I get to have both summer pass times, the bike parked beside the boat in one picture.

My first ride is similar to my last ride. I pick a direction and go. Traditionally unpredictable.
