Do you have a fuel efficient bike?

I ride a BMW F650cs to work and back during the week. For $15 of premium gas I get about 250 to 300 km.

I'm just curious if this is good compared to other bikes? My current bike is only a single cylinder so I know it might me on the low side.

I eventually would like a bigger bike but I would hate to pay way more in gas.

What kind of bike do you have and how much does it cost to fill up? How far can you go on one tank of gas?

thanks

I commute on an F4i and I get about 230kms for 15L.
On spirited rides I have gotten around 170kms and on long boring rides (Port Dover) I got 310kms.
The way you ride has a bigger outcome on gas mileage then what bike you ride.

I track by Litres to have a more consistent figure, miles/$ doesn't make sense to me.
The Hayabusa isn't that bad, I have gone 360 km on 18, on a 20L, so I don't run it down that fare very often. http://www.fuelly.com/driver/mikbusa/gsx1300r-hayabusa-2
When riding with smaller bikes I'm frequently using less fuel for the exact same ride.

2011 FZ8S 250-300kms on 15L always pumped when reserve light is on so there's still some gas left in the tank. Fuel capacity 17L.

About $12-14 for 280km or so for me. I know there's still some reserve left but the stupid light starts flashing at 240km. Typically fill up with 10L or so. I believe it's a 13L tank.

I don't commute on mine so I'm sort of foolish in that I dont really track mileage that much. But just my opinion based on the amount of fuel stops is that my SV1000S is a bit of a pig on gas and my DR650 is a miser. Doesnt seem to matter how much I thrash either, I can count on filling up the SV after about 220 kms and the DR I can get over 350 kms on similar tank size. However, the SV is still more fuel efficient than any other car in the household and is a million times more fun.

Not really. 37ish mpg.

Meh...my Speed Triple only gets on average 8.1L/100K (29 MPG).
If I'm easy on the throttle on the highway my instant fuel economy is 5L/100Km (47 MPG), but that's a big IF.

Compared to my car yes my bike is great on gas. I'm at about 4.8L /100km on average (I do communte and I take the 401 regularly). That probably helps a lot with fuel economy. On spirited rides I've done some calcs and I'm averaging about 5.2L/100km which isn't bad lol

typically avg about 6.5L /100 km.

is that efficcient? its relative, better then my car and many/most other cars, but not as good as some other bikes

08 CBR 125. I get about 350 to a tank. I never completely drain it so that's probably on like 8.5L of fuel? Always under 10 bucks to fill it too :D

I can get 280-300km from 17L on my 2011 GSX-R750 if I baby it. Pretty pleased with that.

I have always been curious as to why BMW cars and bikes are required to run on premium? They have way more electronics than most vehicles, I'd expect that they are capable of retarding the ignition when the engine knocks.

Not knocking BMW's, it's just that pretty much every other bike and car gets by on regular just fine.

the bmw singles are the one of the most fuel efficient per cc bike available i believe. my 12 GS will get 75mpg-3.1 l/100km or more steady cruising at 90kmh on secondary highways. Not sure why you are using premium , do you have a sticker saying you require it? Mines runs on regular

I have a sticker on my fuel cap saying to use octane rating 91. I always wondered why it requires premium.

2008 DL650 with 36,000 kms, 5.13L/100km lifetime average (55 MPG in Canada, 45 MPG with little US gallons).

Highway touring is around 4.1L/100km, or 68.9 MPG.
