Do you crank it up beyond reasonable limits?

Had a ride this morning, I was touring the back roads, and occasionally I would clip the throttle in low gear so much that I would take off flying way above speed limits and anything human...just for a few seconds, of course, and only when clearly there's nothing way in front, or on the sides of the road, nothing but trees and grass.. (not important whats behind, lol ;)

Just wondering, do you guys have the habit of "testing the limits" of your bikes every now and then, just for a few very brief blissful moments at a time?

A lot of times I don't look at my speedometer while riding, I surprise myself by the numbers I see when I happen to glance at it. :confused1:

on back roads yes, I try to push it when there is no one around.
Also on highway on ramps I tend to ream out 1st and 2nd, maybe 3rd just to see what my bike can do.

I try to play nice in the city though, most of the time at least...

Never.....I always do the speed limit.

...the # posted on those white signs are the slowest limit right?

Every once in a while I'll have a bit of fun... But never too much.

On the sled trails we have speed limits and I quadruple those all the time lol.

Do I have "fun"? -- absolutely.
Attempt to find the bike's limits? Not on the street....

I hit 200 once every time I ride. Gotta clear it out somehow. I also only ride backroads.

whats the point of having a bike otherwise? nothing stupid and uncaculated but once every couple of rides, i treat myself. but after my ticket last year, i check the speedo much more frequently, specially within city limiys.

Im always speeding. Not excessively, but yeah.

Otherwise I'd get a 125 or a Vespa.

I have 2 speeding tickets from just pulling out of my workplace both making right turns and accellerating to find a cop doing radar traps. Trying to restrain myself from going 10 above the limits lol. Should be a couple years before it clears up than I'll let her rip again.

This is the exact reason why I don't ride on the streets lol..

All you need is a random cop on the road ahead at a crossing when you come up at 200 to spoil the party for good

... Then you hit the track! ;)

I've been working on restraint, and I'm getting better. Current bike will do 299 no probs, others have done it, so I have nothing to prove. My riding style has been closely tied to the nature of the bike I'm on, and the busa just makes me relaxed, and that's how I've been riding.

Funny you mention it. I don't usually but today in Pickering turning onto Bayly I was waiting forever (behind cars) for the light to change. I didn't get through the first green and barely the second and when I did I accelerated to about 100 to get past this minivan. What do I see in front of me but a cop stopped at the side of the road. He seemed to be looking in my direction but he didn't have a radar gun on me. I guess I saw him early enough and slowed down enough that he didn't pull me over (or maybe he just wanted to finish his coffee). I was so relieved.

I just got back from spending the summer in Quebec, and the max limit signs have been missing around here ...

Turning on Bayly off Brock?... Yeah there's always a cop hiding in a driveway just after the Tim Horton's.
