do ducati SS riders get more attention than other SS riders?

I get a lot of looks and people talking to me because people think my bike is a Ducati.

BTW, it's a Triumph Street Triple R. I guess because it doesn't look like any other bike that it's just assumed it's a Ducati.

just wondering...

Yep, particularly from the popo. :)

Why are so many hating on Duc's? A Duc SS is a wonderful machine: sweet sound, low end grunt, fantastic cornering. My friend tours with me on a 900SS and the only mod he's done is risers. No reliability issues at all.

I've got a 750ss and have had no reliability issues whatsoever. I had a Kawasaki and a Suzuki in the past but with the Ducati, I get stopped all the time by people asking about it or telling me a story about one someone they knew used to own. The vibrations coming through the frame were surprising but the bike is a lot of fun to ride. I bought it because I wanted something different, and it definitely gets a lot of attention.

I personaly dont like the look or the sound of ducati. I have never owned one or rode one so i cannot comment on that. I honestly dont know what they cost and don't really care riding is riding doesn't matter what you ride, you ride what you like and thats what counts. Getting attention really isnt a big concern of mine as I dont like to ride anywhere near the city or the highway keeping it interesting is what counts.

I could care less about the monsters, hypers and streetfighters but any time I see an 848, 1098, 1198, I feel like I want to go to GP Bikes and trade in my gixxer. Not a big fan of the older SS's but the newer ones are just sexy.
The only other Ducati that I'm absolutely in love with is the Sport Classic, just beautiful.

You see more of them since for the first time in history there are 5 dealers in the province. Stands to reason you should see more. 25 years ago there were 2 dealers for canada.

I like mine, the cost of maintinence or repairs have never prevented me riding nor would it prevent me buying. Life is too short not to ride cool bikes.

+1 on the sport classic

Always wondered what all the fuss was about, had a friend leave me an 08 848 for a few months. Rode it like 3 times and didnt like it, I much prefer riding my 09 ZX6R over it...I just dont like V-twins, even with the wet clutch, just not my cup of tea I guess....Id rather have 2 jap bikes for the price of one Ducati ......Or if I was going to spend that kind of money on one bike, Id go Aprillia , or BMW
I agree S1000rr is sweet

i do like the look of ducati's, i was considering getting one when shopping for my last ride. i got a daytona instead. for me performance wasnt a factor, either would be more than enough bike on the street. and i doubt i would have reached the limits of either on the track. the ducati does look nice. but for me the deciding factor was the dry clutch... the thing sounds godawful. sounds as though a few nuts fell loose and dropped down the pipe... and are still clattering around down there.

but they do look nice... and we see some wet clutches coming out on more models.

on a side note, my sisters bf was over one time. he saw my daytona and commented on it saying "yo sweet ducati man". to which i replied, "its not a ducati" "oh, what is it?" "its a triumph daytona." (as if the big gold letters plastered across the side of the bike didnt give it away.) to which he replied, "oh cool, but i'm sure it still goes pretty fast."

Who gives a Crap...

are your riding? or posing at tim hortons?

The only person your bike needs to impress is yourself!!

Wahhhh!

No one cares about Monsters..... :(

Except little kids seem to like 'em! :)

I have always loved the Duc's. For me it would be a 916 to get. But when I had the opportunity to get a ducati, I went a other route. I needed something sporty, cruiser is just not my thing. It had to be able to take my lady on the back (comfortably ) and hauling stuff seemed like a good idea. I dislike wearing a backpack as it throws off my body weight. Plus i like things off the beaten path. I now had a BMW r1100s for some years now. Excellent hard bag system. Great handling. Comfy ride for the lady too. Aftermarket exhaust sounds better that the stock. I get a lot of attention with the bike as I don't see too many around.

At the end of the day, it's all about riding. What ever you ride, that's the real thing. No matter what bike I ride, as soon as I fire it up, it takes me back to the miles of smiles of riding dirt bikes on my cousin's farm as a kid.

Just nit-picking here a bit.The old style "SS" was discontinuead in 2007.It was always made with basically the same aircooled two valve motor and double sided swingarm.
The liquid cooled four valve motor is used in the "SBK" or superbike as it is known.

if i had spare money i'd buy a 1198r and stuff it in my living room as a monument...
