Have you seen a leafs game?
Leafs will not "win" or win the cup most likely 'till 2025-2040. I'm serious!
so long as the fans are supporting this BS, nothing will change. Ferguson set the team back 20 years.
Bettman doens't want the Leafs to win, it'd be the worst thing for US fans, and the conspiracy is well in the works and Working!
also, Leaf fans are just….. i stopped being a fan. sick of getting excited for a First round of playoffs team. who cares!?
so long as the team is NOT A CONTENDER, it doesn't matter. and the "experience" gained by making playoffs, that's a story of 1-2 years of making the playoffs, not DECADES of this Lie!
as for Phaneuf,
i don't like the guy. but he'd get 6+ Mill elsewhere if leafs didn't sign him. leafs have no Depth. they had no choice.
he is a top 4 defence man on most teams.
BUT, i still say Leafs should not have named a captain. you don't name a captain just because there is no one else and then stick to it… seriously! pay phaneuf the 7 mill, whatever, leafs have bigger problems,
but the Captaincy IS a major problem on the team right now. Also, No Centre. Bozak is a great player, and would make a great second line centre.
as for Kadri. Trade him. nothing significant will come of him. he is a good player. but top 6 on some teams, and minors on some teams. he is just overrated.
if they can get some depth and decent players, or even GOOD picks in a good draft year, Trade him.

eg. Pittsburg was on verge of bankruptcy, done… then a blackout (behind the doors draft occurred) and hey! Pittsburg won the lotto drafted Crosby first overall… then Malkin etc.. coincidence??
basically vancouver was due to win, but a combination of Sedins and Luongo ensured that didn't happen.
now Leafs had potential… ferguson was brought in and set them back 20 years. will not have a contender for at least another 15 years.
Habs will not have a contender for at least 10 years.
Vancouver will lose it's potential and get set back, they're not winning the cup with this team so (1-2 more years of just getting people's hopes up) then rebuild, so that's 8-12 years.
Calgary…. just forget it. not happening in our life time.
Edmonton…. there is SOME hope. but A LOT has to go right with trades, development and health to get going… so about 3-5 years.
