Didn't ride this year...

Best wishes.

Take same time off the saddle and focus on what matters, your people and you.

Just went through cancer on my partner's family and it's very rough. PM me if you want to talk.
Thanks, I've said my piece and I appreciate the replies.

Hope your wife gets better. If you need someone to take your Fat Bob out for a good 30-40 minute ride to keep it from sitting still too long just let me know, I'd love to test ride one. Can leave you some cash and my truck keys to hold while I'm gone.

About 20 years ago I retired my ride and hung up the helmet for 3-4 years as life was busy and I couldn't justify the insurance.
I became a grump and was not easy to live with. At some point my wife insisted I take the bike out of retirement.
Recently, most of my riding friends sold their bikes and bought muscle cars.
For awhile I though I was going to go down the cager road as well. I persevered and now ride alone.
Happy apexes.

You're not alone in not riding much this season... For a few reasons (mostly health related - I have some heart issues that have been kicking my ass a little more then usual) - I've put maybe 250km on this year; and questioned if the ongoing costs (insurance & maintenance) are worth it.

I decided no matter how much or little I ride the rest of this year, I'll wait until next season to decide what to do longer term...

Glad the wife's on the mend, and thanks for sharing!

Similar for me. 2 small kids at the time, had a nasty snowmobile accident that kept me on crutches for 6 mos. Wife and I decided life would be tough for her and the kids without me, so I got off the bikes and sleds, bought a nice boat that was a lot less likely to take my life.

One the kids were in their teens, I was worth more dead than alive, and the kids were getting independent so we decided I should ride again.

I had no trouble making the call, and no regrets. I've always been family first so it wasn't even a tough decision.
